  1. Copy of email Cheers Ray Have your say on changes to fisheries legislation - by Monday 19 July 2019 Yahoo/Inbox fisheriesmanagers <fisheriesmanagers@daf.qld.gov.au> To:fisheriesmanagers 20 Jun at 3:11 pm Have your say - Changes to fisheries legislation by Monday 19 July 2019 In June 2017, the Queensland Government released the Sustainable Fisheries Strategy (the Strategy) paving the way for Queensland to have a world-class fisheries management system. To implement fisheries reforms additional changes to the Fisheries Regulation 2008 (the Regulation) are required. Extensive consultation has occurred over the last 18 months, with results of consultation available online atwww.fisheries.qld.gov.au. All feedback has been considered by the relevant working groups and the Sustainable Fisheries Expert Panel and a number of changes have been made as a result of feedback. A discussion paper has been developed to provide all stakeholders with the opportunity to have a say about the proposed amendments to the Fisheries Regulation 2008. Key proposed changes include: splitting fisheries into regions establishing sustainable catch limits for crab, east coast inshore and trawl and snapper and pearl perch allocating quota and effort units to individuals adjusting size limits from pearl perch and king threadfin introducing a one month seasonal closure for snapper and pearl perch to rebuild overfished stocks reducing the mud crab in-possession limit from 10 to 7 introducing boat limits for priority blackmarket species introducing a new general possession limit of 20 for any species that doesn’t have a current limit banning lightweight crab pots that ‘ghost fish’. You can provide feedback by completing the online survey or downloading the response form and submitting it by email or post: Online: www.daf.qld.gov.au/business-priorities/fisheries/sustainable/sustainable-fisheries-strategy/fisheries-reforms Email: fisheriesmanagers@daf.qld.gov.au Mail: Proposed amendments to the Fisheries Regulation Department of Agriculture and Fisheries GPO Box 46 Brisbane Qld 4001 Want to talk to us about the proposed changes? 2. Good to see a dog friendly park they are getting few and far between, Cheers Ray
  3. First spot we tried Rick pulled in 3 fish whilst we watched and that was that we hung around for a while trying to locate them but all in vein. Couple of other likely spots were also bare . We found some at Andrews drop off but they were scarce taking a hour to boat 20 bass so next spot was out in front of the fig tree where we had a hot bite before leaving them biting. Tally for the day was 85 bass and I once again the tandan king Some of the redclaw pots were good and others left us with a warm and fuzzy feeling because the poor starving sharefarmers needed a feed.
  4. update one spot left. christophagus and Jims mate locked in.
  5. Up to 3 decky spots avail this sunday; 6am start meet end of adsetts rd whiteside. Bait fishing with live shrimp and checking redlaw pots. No smoking No bananas kids welcome BYO tucker and esky to take redclaw home. 0403072325 best way to contact. Cheers Ray
  6. Found this on another forum Draft Moreton Bay Marine Park Zoning Plan Legislation to Restrict Boating in moreton Bay 120 Days per year per person Section 107 of the Draft Moreton Bay Marine Park Zoning Plan is set to prohibit boating in the Marine Park zone to no more than 120 days per year per person. This legislation does not apply to those navigating and mooring with permission or operating a passenger ferry, but the impact could be felt by recreational boat users, residents of the Bay Islands, live-aboard operations, and commercial operators who could be fined or forced to navigate more red tape. Whilst there is support for protecting the bay environment, questions remain about the practicality of enforcing this legislation, who it will be applied to, and whether this will mean more red tape for commercial operators and others enjoying the Bay. Read the full report at this link: you'll need to copy and paste sorry https://docs.wixstatic.com/ugd/dbf1a3_8a8e436d412049a4ba9e48cf0fb4e47f.pdf Have your say here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Moretonbaylegislation 230 odd pages Section Stew is taking about is on page 75. Sounds like the old trick of including something controversial that everyone will complain about and slip in the things that they really wish to do unnoticed. Needs a section stating what they propose to change, No maps just lat and longitude lines. Impossible for a dumbo like me to work out what they are saying. Good reason to stick to the fresh water. Cheers Ray
  7. Is the trailer braked? Outfit probably over 750kg. With a lot of earlier outfits to keep the price competitive the dearlers would weigh the outfit dry to keep the weight under 750kg and only supply a unbraked trailer, Scalies quite often hit up the boat ramps of a weekend and give you a ticket and pull off the plates and you have to tilt tray your boat home , mechanical discs are not that expensive with electric a bit more but worth the extra as they are easier to adjust and if you put a relay in the reverse light circuit it disconnects the brakes when you are reversing, ( Stops the brakes locking up when you are reversing the empty trailer down the ramp) cheers ray
  8. I was not going to post as it only upsets Dino but decided he needed some encouragement to do his physio and get back on the water. We spent the day teaching the shrimp to swim and escape those ravenous fish that inhabit NPD. We were quite successful as we caught 113 less fish than last Sunday. First fish boated went 55cm much to Jasons delight. and Rick made it a double hookup with a 52 cm yella. We pulled another 3 yellas from this spot and then the shrimp had a reprieve fo rthe rest of the day with the bass being quite elusive with only the odd fish boated. They were a good size and mostly located in around 50 feet of water. We tried around one of the new fads and caught 2 bass one 325cmm and the other 275mm. As normal the redclaw pots were productive except the ones that the redclaw had chewed holes in. Cheers Ray
  9. Fish were everywhere yesterday but only found a school at knock off time . Introduced another new angler to the beauty of NPD Couple of trophys plus few more close to 50cm Left them biting with a total of 150 bass and one yella plus a couple of buckets of redclaw. Cheers Ray
  10. Bit cool and windy this morning but the fishing was hot with 70 bass and 10 yellas at first drop off and other 47 bass at the next spot . Few deer hanging around but they are very flighty so no photos. Smelly bird hanging around our redclaw pots. Cheers Ray
  11. She may be short a digit or two.
  12. Do you eat fish fingers? something to think about,
  13. Stew has had a bit of bad luck and has been out of action for a couple of months due to injuring his knee. I said no worries I hve arranged a couple of deckies and all you will have to di is pull in fish.I also knocked back a couple of people as I had 4 in the boat. Just before 5 last night one decky sent text to my phone saying that he was going to church instead of coming fishing. Next time he wants to come I will tell him to go to hell. The other decky sent me a pm ( On another boot polish site) at 5pm but i did not see it till 8pm. He had suddenly discovered that his car was in the garage and he will not get back till monday. By this time it was too late to look for other deckies and I was also a little irate. Stew and I decided to give it a go and apart from one crip helping the other we had a bottler of a day only 3 bass were undersized 1 yella good redclaw Cheers Ray
  14. Another good day at NPD with plenty of quality fish and redclaw. Mark still unable to crack an over 50 bass with his first 5 bass going 45. 45 . 47 and 2 at 49.No big schools with the fish scattered over a few spots. We gave Steve a bit of stick as he was persevering with icejigs and blades , We told him to keep it up as the vibrations of his jigs and blades were attracting the fish to the boat so we could catch the bass on shrimp.Redclaw still prolific on forky bait and we were able to catch some more forkies for bait for next trip. Percy gave us a bit of entertainment trying to give his offsider a head job with another pelican coming in to join the affray.82 bass2 yellas1 tandan Cheers Ray
  15. Any auto/marine upholsterer would be able to recover Big Tez who used to be on the site would be able to do them .Dostyle brought his boat so may have contact details Cheers Ray
  16. Thought we were on a winner this morning with 12 good sized bass boated just around the corner from the ramp in an hour. They were not thick but consistent. We decded that we would then have a cuppa on the way to the redclaw pots and try our luck downstream The redclaw pots were productive but we could only catch 2 more bass the whole morning. We found a good show on the sounder at Andrews dropoff but after boating 6 forkies we moved on. In past years this time of the year is when the bass start to school up but so far it has not happened. Cheers Ray
  17. A bow mount is better if you wish to easily control the motor if casting or even playing a fish. Hand held remote handy if you are allover the boat whilst playing fish nothing worst if the fish heads up to the bow when you have foot pedal at the stern. Bow mounts take up space whilst you are traveling / Transom at least half price of bow mounts. Whatever you purchase ensure that you give a good wash down ofter use. Especially foot pedals. Also regularly remove prop and check for line around shaft. If you do not do this the line cuts out the shaft seals and once water gets into the housing you are up for an expensive repair that is not covered by warranty Cheers Ray
  18. What sized tinny I assume you are after a bow mount What features Budget If you are just after a no frills 12 volt motor with a bit extra grunt have a look at the watersnake65lb https://www.dinga.com.au/watersnake-combat-crc65-54-bow-mount-with-remote-and-free-dinga-fishing-shirt.html Jervis walker service is superb . If you desire features such as spot lock you will be looking at a lot more money. Haswing have a new model coming soon. Lowrance are bringing out their own brand soon but no info yet available and no info available with their arrangement with the current interaction with motorguide motors. Minn kota and motorguide features identical Minn kota interact with humminbird sounders whilst motorguide interact with lowrance. If you want auto stow and deploy Minnkota ulterra are the ducks guts but are only available in 24 or 36 volt motos ane are up around the 5k mark now Minn kota have their own dedicated service division and have spare parts avai; fpr motors going back 20 years. Motorguide servicing is done by your local mercury agent who may or may not be experienced with motorguide ok if it under warranty as they will just keep changing parts till fixed but it it is out of warranty you pay for their inexperience. They only keep parts for 10 years. IF you are on the northside Worthwhile dropping in to northside marine and having a yarn with Glen in the spare parts section or on southside talk to Daz at Cleveland Marine. Daz is ex BLA minn kota tech. Cheers Ray
  19. Drizzled on and off all morning but some good quality fish landed. First off I targeted spanglies for red claw bait while Rick was clearing the pots. once again we averaged around 14 redclaw in the pots that did not have holes in them. The bass were a bit elusive until we worked the best method was to just drift along the edge of the drop off in around 25 feet of water, Bit of a bonus was one of the yellas that we caught went only 32cm so good to see that some of the recent stockings are progresing, Rick had a bit of fun with a good sized eel before he broke it off, We went down near the island for no fish but checked out the eagles and their eerie. Ross and the boys from the PRFMA installed the fourth group of fads this morning
  20. Bit damp first up this morning, 46 bass and 3 yellas and some spanglies between 2 of us all within 1 k from ramp, Spanglies are now redclaw bait. Quite a few redclaw 35cm long. Sorry no photos as I left camera home . Cheers Ray
