Actually the outboard engines are designed and tuned to run on 91-93ron. Yamaha specifically states that if you encounter engine troubles/roughness, it may be due to the use of premium or high energy fuel, and recommends only using standard fuel. Economy also suffers when using high octane fuel.

Agree with everything Junky said. Only other thing is where you put your weight e.g. large full esky. The further back it is the heavier your rear end the harder the engine will need to work to get on and stay on the plane.

    Prop removal is easy.
I'd say you've done it right.
Don't tighten the crap out of the nut. Just a firm lock by holding the prop and doing it up with socket and rachet, all by hand. Do not lock the prop and tighten the nut up hard.
Make sure the nut retainer is fitted correctly, thus is paramount to not losing your propeller.

We're you loaded up with weight?
Obviously weight will slow you down and cause more fuel usage.
Windy condition will also cause this with cabin boats.
We're conditions rough ie. Big swells. What I'm getting at is if you take a straight piece of rope, then zig zag it to represent swell. It will shorten that length of rope substantially.

    Crap fuel.
Only use 95 or 98. That 91 is a con and ruins engines.

    Service the motor.
I'm sure you've had it done, but old oil etc will cause engine problems.

Worst case, sell it and get a merc... 🤣.... Joking.

First time was quite a while ago now and we wanted to learn about plastics fishing for flathead. Sean nailed it and we got some great fish. Second trip was to learn about trolling hardbody lures for snapper. Again, we got some good fish and learnt heaps.

not to sure on the rules but I got my boat licence a few years back when I was 12. im pretty sure its illegal to use a motor boat in public water under 12 years of age without a license in nsw even if its only 2.5HP.

Feel a bit sorry for some of the fish trying to get their pic taken,as when they are in a frenzy you  dont have time to take a pic of them all.😜

I can't help with that charter operator, but can tell you the Bay is currently overrun with sharks. Last night we hooked up to 11 of the suckers and a couple of weeks back we got sharked bringing in fish 7 times. So it may be best to wait until the weather/water cools off a bit around March-April before you make a booking.

No experience with those guys. Looks like he might be John Palermo’s son, so there is a good pedigree. One local charter I can definitely recommend is Sean Conlon’s. I haven’t been out with him for a few years but he really knows his stuff and will do whatever style of fishing you want and give you lots of great info and tuition along the way. Very honest operator.

73 bass is not a bad effort @Dinodadog. As I scrolled down I was a bit nervous that you might have loaded a photo of every bass you caught. 😄

Call your local marine rescue establishment. They are definitely in the know.

I was going to head out to NPD then changed my mind at the last moment and headed north.Glad I did as the fishing was slow to start but picked up quicjly.First school I found, I dropped down a norries spoon, which landed on top of a passing missile that grabbed my lure and never stopped until the line broke, that will teach me for using 10lb leader.
Managed 73 bass and 3 eel tail catfish from 3 schools and in front of a lot of deep weeds. Crazydeeps, spinnerbaits and some on shrimp.

Hi nuggs, welcome to forum, lots of fishing knowledge and plenty of North bris fisherman here. In fact we recently came 2nd in a month long fishing comp. I occasionally Google obscure fishing ideas and surprising how often it sends me back here! Good luck chasing your fishy dreams, put pics of catches up and feel free to ask questions.
     P.s. pine River was full of prawns couple weeks back, boats were smashing them, I caught enough castnetting from the bank to use for bait + kept big 1s for a lil feed. Love the cast net and not paying for bait!;

Welcome to the forum Nuggs. A cast net is definitely the way to go if you want to catch larger species. You can get prawns and baitfish depending on where you are.
Some strips of pike eel or stingray may get you onto a shark, as well.
    Cheers Hamish
