Beautiful part of the world, I grew up in Narooma, half hour south. Plenty of headlands and rocks to fish off there. Captures of Kingfish, Salmon, Tailor, large snapper and even tuna were all within reach.
Nice captures, keep it up

What's your application for it mate? I have a few mates that run Cabos for GT casting etc but the 120 is a huge reel. The 80 is what my mates use for GT stuff generally as your arm would fall off casting a 120 all day Otherwise value for money they seem like a good option, especially if its not being used every second day

Hey mate, I live in Bowen and fish out of a 15ft poly boat which has much less freeboard than a 420 dory. I have taken it to the reef and 60ks east off the gold coast etc but definitely start small, in all honesty some of my favorite grounds are inshore anyway. Get yourself familiar with how the wind and tides work inshore and what is achievable in your boat. Typically the roughest water will be closer to the coast due to more tidal influences and onshore winds. I have also kitted the boat out with GPS epirb (a must), radio (must have) and I always wear a PLB and PFD especially as I normally fish Solo and anything could happen and I want the best chance of making it home after. I have done over 1000hrs in my boat now and know it very well, I suggest you put some solid hours in in all conditions so you know what its capable of and how to drive it in adverse conditions as well as how your fuel economy changes in these conditions. As far as forecasts go I have definitely been caught out despite the forecast being 'glass out' across numerous predictions so always prepare for the worse. I can tell you after being caught out solo 60ks east of the boat ramp when a 20kt westerly kicks in your spine will never trust the weatherman again
As mentioned at the end of the day its possible but make sure you know your boat, have your safety plan in place and make sure you log on and off with your local coast guard.

That's one very well decked out boat and in great nick too - shouldn't have a problem selling it. I really like the amount of storage - very clever the way you can store all the lure trays along the side. What is the base/inside of the livewell made of? Oh and yes, cool name .
Cheers mate, lots of design ideas went into this one. That is actually the "kill tank" or where I normally store drinks etc. Its just a heavy duty plastic container. The livewell is plumbed in the rear opposite the fuel tank

Hi Ovington
It must be a sad day selling that boat - it certainly has the name 'My Precious' for a reason.
I would love my first boat to be something like this, expect it is a long time of saving up
Cheers Hamish
P.S. Good luck in selling.
Sure is, definitely has been babied and hardly used. Worth every cent though mate, nothing like having the freedom of your own boat!
Cheers

This ultimate estuary/dam and tournament ready 385 Quintrex Explorer is now on the market. “My Precious” as the name suggests has been built with a strong passion for functionality whilst fishing for both weekenders and also setup for Bream/Bass Tournaments. No attention to detail has been spared in this build with a ground up build from a bare hull, using only the best quality marine grade materials. The hatches include adequate storage for all your safety equipment (included), deep cycle battery, anchor, fully weather proof hatch for clothes and tackle storage as well as the tackle boxes mounted inside the gunnel. Additionally, there is a fully plumbed livewell as well as a drain able compartment that will fit almost all estuary fish you wish to keep!
Reliability will never be an issue with a 25hp 2 stroke Yamaha with less than 40hrs running time, 54lb Watersnake with foot controls and a well maintained Brooker trailer to get you safely from A to B. This boat package really needs to be seen in person to appreciate the quality of the build and its immaculate presentation.
This boat will be difficult to part with but needs to go to a new home as I am focusing more on offshore fishing.
It would be well suited to a buyer looking for a new boat or anyone looking at starting off in the Bream/Bass tournament scene.
Please send me through any enquiries.
Boat is Located in Narooma, NSW

The fishing sure can turn it on up here, long time between fishable days at times though. It's called Blowin Bowen for a reason hah

After a long while in dormancy for me, a new member Jake contacted me requesting a few pointers around bowen, thanks to this Forum. I know many have helped me in the past and plenty of friendships have formed thanks to it. I threw the invite out to Jake to see if he wanted to come for a look at my local hunting grounds. The wind was far from ideal but we ventured out. A short session thanks to the weather didnt go to plan with no GTs coming on board for Jake but did manage to boat a fish myself and hopefully give Jake some confidence to hang around and persist.

Comfort and stability were great mate, honestly couldn't fault it. I didn't get to drive it myself so its hard to say what it was like handling wise but cut through chop much smoother than any tinny of comparable size

I have spent a week fishing out of a 5.5m Galeforce and loved it! Copped a few rougher days and it handled it beautifully. Definitely will be looking into them as a next boat

Tailor and salmon I would mostly catch spinning metal lures and would occasionally catch kingfish, bonito and even tuna on them as by catch. If I target kingfish I generally used live baits under balloons to avoid snags or weightless baits in a burley trail such as squid, gar or pilchard. These days I would be throwing stickbaits and poppers for them if I still lived down that way as I am better equipped with the gear required now.
