Bit slow today at eastern arm. Could not find quite a few of our new pots that we deployed a fortnight ago as they are now under water. The ones we located were reasonably full but the ones in deeper water the shrimp were all dead. Ended up with 26 bass from different locations but some locations hard to find with the high water levels and marks submerged. Water is a bit murky with all the fresh with visibility around 2 to 3 feet, Best bass 46cm rest varied from 18cm upwards. One spot we thought we were being hit by barred grunter but turned out a school of 18cm bass that we moved on from. Hai had left his rods at home but fortunately he had a 3ft ice rod stashed in the boot and it was interesting watching him land a 45cm bass on it as it was spooled with 3lb mono.

Well, someone’s been busy! Nice work, Neil. I need to get off my rear end and get on the water in January to help team South. Not that the team needs any help 😬

Have you thought about connecting them through a VSR?  I think Victron call them just a battery joiner but essentially they are the same…a voltage sensing relay.  They seperate the batteries under certain conditions and join them under set conditions.  IE join when voltage on the alternator charged battery reaches preset voltage (usually @ 13.4v) and separate when it hits the low voltage setting (@13.2v from memory).  Sort of guarantees you can run them as a joined pair without fear of flattening both.  The best part of them is that you can connect a charger to the secondary battery and it works in reverse….once that battery hits voltage it opens circuit through to the other battery.  Hope this makes sense.  Pretty much what any 4WD dual battery setup looks like.
    Look up Victron Cyrix-ct

@Old Scaley I'm certain it would be a strait forward fix to get the old process working again, I just need to be granted some back-end admin access to troubleshoot and resolve. @ellicat is working on seeing if that admin access can be provided.

This is always my worry as well, so whilst my dual battery setup can be run in parallel, I usually only use Battery 1 or Battery 2 isolated from each other and don't really run them in parallel at all.

I've seen more recently that people are keeping Bonito for fresh sashimi and that sashimi fans rate them as comparable to long tail tuna.

    That's some superb info,thanks so much👍.
At the moment I'm using mostly penn reels in the 2000-7000 rang for all my shore fishing then multiplyers for boat.
Out of interest, what species do you fish for in the "impoundment natives"?

Google Chris Britton Rods.  He is a custom rod maker - lists the specs of rods he makes.  If any of your rods dont match the rods he makes then I would say you wont use it.
Really here in Brisbane you can fish:
    Light Tackle Game
    Heavy Tackle Game
    Offshore (pelagic and demersal)
Inshore (Moreton Bay) (same but the smaller species normally)
    Beach (ie surf)
    Estuary
    Impoundment natives
    Freshwater native fish
Depends on what you want to target but personally I think for inshore and estuary the 2500-5000 size Shimano reels are about right depending on how heavy a stick you want to use.  For overheads Shimano 200 class mainly though you can use 150’s as the water isnt that deep (not much over 20m is the deepest part of the bay)
Offshore Shimano SW reels from 5000-14000 for spin and overheads up to @ Shimano Talica 20 depending on the stick you match with. (20m-100m is the normal depth ranges with the closer reefs in the 30-40m depth and then 100m before you get into deep dropping)
I just use the Shimano sizes because I dont know Daiwa and other brands very well.
If you are a tournament fisher then you may get into the bream or bass tournament scene they will fish ultra light so if you have anything in the 1-3kg and Shimano 1000 size reel you may want to bring it.

    Hi All,
Since there has been no movement on fixing the Photo Upload issue. I've created a Temporary workaround using Google Photos. It's not ideal (and a bit convoluted) but this should be the simplest way to enable public sharing of photos with a group (without everyone having to pay subscription costs). All you need is a google account (free). I figure most people already have a google account.
Please test out and let me know if steps below need updating or if it doesn't work for you.
Below is a link to a Google Photo Album : Australian Fishing Online - Public Shared Album
    https://photos.app.goo.gl/QvdZs2kL9cH3UmFV6
You should be able to access this link from any PC or Phone
    *******************
How to upload from an iPhone
    1) Click the link to the album https://photos.app.goo.gl/QvdZs2kL9cH3UmFV6 (Choose either Web browser or App when prompted)
    2) Top right corner there should be a button to "Add photos" (Button is a frame of 2 mountains with a + sign) - You will be prompted to sign-in to Google (if you haven't already)
    3) This should present a drop down to choose photo from "Photo Library"
    5) Select the photos you want to add. Click "Add" in top right corner to submit.
    6) Wait for the photo(s) to be uploaded to the Album.
How to share a specific photo you have just uploaded
    1) Whilst viewing the Album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/QvdZs2kL9cH3UmFV6
    2) Click on the specific photo you want to share
    2) Top right corner there should be a button to "Share" (looks like this symbol <). (In the App its down the bottom "Share to...")
    3) A screen will pop up. Ignore everything on this screen and just click the bottom left button "Create Link" and again click "Create Link" on the next screen. (In the App click "Create Link")
    4) A link will be created. Copy this link and paste into your forum post. This is an example of a direct link to a photo in the shared photo album https://photos.app.goo.gl/73tueFhyKCyefiiE6
    Things to Note:
Anyone with the above link: can view photos that have been shared (no google sign-in required) - ie its PUBLIC can upload photos to the album (google sign-in required) Once the AFO Photo issue is resolved I'll upload all the photos back onto AFO. *******************

I'm with @ellicat, I can cut and tie a new loop knot much quicker than playing around with spit rings / pliers / rocky boat. Don't get me wrong I use split rings with certain lures / assist hooks but I'm not opening them up to save re-tying a knot for sure.
If anything....knots are usually the weak point in any terminal tackle so re-tying new knots is a positive thing.
