  1. I guess a jet ski is a boat? I hope there will be a few at the social. @Angus did you hear from sean?
  2. Perhaps you can teach me these ways on Sunday...
  3. I hope one day I will grow up. I admire the likes of Ray who target one type of thing but the grass is always greener so want it all!!!
  4. Yes I am keen to add this one. @JohnTheFisherman invited me out a few weeks ago but I couldnt make it. I need to wet the yak more.
  5. Yep pretty much fish where ever and when ever I can. I would have gone out today but it would have blown the paint off my outboard.
  6. I have a few sieenas. Mostly 1000 or 2000. They have been a great reel but dont take a dunking. I have had to swim to some spots down at Wooli and they didn't like this. A top reel for the price.
  7. Hey Yabbyman, The only place I know would be Hinze dam. They get a few red claw in there. I hope someone with better knowledge can direct you more specifically
  8. Beautiful rod mate. I have no opinion on cost but it looks in mint condition. Luv it is right. I had so many times when i forgot to break the rod apart with the metal ferrules and it got stuck. They get pitting and corrosion on the chrome so don't forget to give it a wash. There is a bit of history on the JW page https://www.jarviswalker.com.au/list/about-us/the-jarvis-walker-story.html I have fished with them a lot and still have a few rods... none in as good condition as yours. I hope you enjoy your rod
  9. hmmmm there is something in this. I regularly dodge the pots put out the front of wynnum creek. good call. Sandies wont hurt the pots as much as muddies either.
  10. I had to look up what Gamma radiation was. I had heard about it but it's very interesting. That is pretty devastating for the farmers and workers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Food_irradiation
  11. Nice. Food for thought there.... I have a stack of bungee cord... hmmmm
  12. Yep I used to do this but as I take a stack of family and friends fishing and I don't always crab or know how many to take each time I find this tricky. I agree they are sooo much easier than the chicken wire ones. They were a bugger to store and carry.
  13. Nice tips there. If you make it to the xmas party I hopefully will have them sorted by then and you can critique the job haha.
  14. Does anyone have a great system to store collapsible crab pots? I find them very large and heavy, take up way too much room and I don't have a good way to hang them. I was planning op build a simple platform that I could hoist up into the ceiling on a pulley but realize that I would need at least 3 ropes so it got high enough and didn't topple. Thanks
  15. Wow I hope we dodged a bullet. Now to ban raw prawn importations.
  16. like most political and economic theories they work best on paper
  17. Sounds like our wormers that used to send worms to NSW and VIC will be still left high and dry.
  18. Sad but not surprising. I hope the industry and fishery can recover.
  19. When I was a kid we spent a lot of time on the broadwater. One afternoon I swam the stern anchor into the beach and dragged it up. There was some old fishing line on it and as a keen fishing grom I started to pull it in hoping for a sinker or perhaps some tackle I could use. It took ages as there was a lot of line out. After a few minutes I noticed some tension on the line and soon realised I was fighting a fish. I pulled in a solid bream! Probably the best I had ever caught at that stage. I figure that someone had set a line and perhaps forgotten to tighten the drag or close the bail arm. and I got a sinker haha
  20. Any tips on carp fishing? I have never caught one. Perhaps I will head to carindale and chuck a few on the BBQ haha
  21. I was quoted $375 today in Wynnum. @Cmaltby. are you able to pass on the details of where you got that done? I am doing a temporary job this week but need one early next year.
