  1. Hey @Bretto77, yes mate a livie... A humble yabbie in less than a metre lol
  2. Well considering just about everyone for years and years have been throwing them back in disgust as bycatch, it's about time some bigger bream showed up lol.
  3. Congrats on the bay snapper Brian !! 69 is a great number Damn you, now i have to go find a 70
  4. Hahaaaa yea i know Greg, my thumbs aren't the only thing that's bent
  5. Thanks Brian, yer we got lucky with only a brief shower or two and a slight southerly so the southern bay was relatively flat We caught 5 all up, kept some smaller ones for a feed but released the one in the pic. Yakka's are in abundance atm, but thankfully the sharks were not today
  6. Thanks Greg, If it was the same fish it's shite outta luck this time because we kept this one as it was a bay pb for the person i took out with me who is terminally ill. We used to fish together a long time ago and it was great to see the smile on his face
  7. Actually... i just remembered we released the last one so perhaps it is the same one wtf??? Same spot, so go figure? What are the odds of that? Holy **** i need a JD, i just gave myself a headspin
  8. Snapper for team south, almost identical to other one but its not the same fish, but might spark some controversy for team north to whinge about lol
  9. Bloody awesome all round Josh! How's the shoulder after landing that monster... holy **** Looking forward to more pics of more monsters
  10. 63cm snapper for team south, also released to hopefully grow for a few more years
  11. Thankyou for a great mornings fishing Brian ! @ellicat It was great to catch up with you again, glad to see you're looking fit and healthy and still have that sense of humour that makes great company and easy to share some laughs with Thanks for outfishing me on your side of the boat, making sure you were well ahead on the scoreboard before moving the boat slightly to then give me the dregs in the same spot hahaaaa.... but hey at least i managed to get your macks in the net for ya this time Was good to meet Leo @Leosonfire too and see Steve @Old Scaley again. Had a Mackerel with crispy skin, and a tuskie for dinnies... delish
  12. I'm in for southside, although you might have to push it back till 2025 to ensure pic posting is sorted
  13. And looking on the bright side, No need to take the rolling pin Also a perfect time to start a fishing comp for the northsiders " trust me it was thiiiiiisss big"
  14. Well done Kelvin and boys! What a trip to remember! The smiles on the lads faces says it all
  15. I'm not overweight, but two outta three aint bad
  16. @Old Scaley not likely Steve.. Will never miss fishing with bait, so i can put the rod in the holder, sit back, take in the surroundings and enjoy a JD and a smoke
  17. Got a call from a long time mate who i haven't seen for awhile, who only fishes with fly rod gear and catches all sorts on fly in the bay including snapper, jacks, jew, threadies and even a metre long barra!. Anyway the plan was to chase jewies on fly the other night in the southern bay. After being introduced to using fly gear with Uncle Tony catching Rainbow Trout awhile ago, i was keen to both catch up with him and also to maybe improve my fly casting abilities. To be honest i would have just been happy to be a passenger in his boat to watch and witness his skills. But being the mate he is, when we got to spot x, he proceeded to position his boat nicely with the minny and then handed me one of his fly rods and gave me instructions on when and where to cast the fly. He's the sort of fella who gets just as much of a thrill and satisfaction letting the deckie catch while he enjoys watching their excitement. It wasn't long before we could hear and see the jew busting the bait near and on the surface under the moonlight. It really is exciting to sight cast a fly to where the action is, slowly retrieve it and then watch a jew inhale the fly on the surface! The visual anticipation is addictive for sure. Once hooked i was advised to give them nothing, no line at all if possible, otherwise they would swim straight back into the structure and it would be game over. Well that would be easier said than done on a 25kg model - that i'd like to see lol. Definately different for me from being used to bait fishing and letting the drag scream. Not monsters but all up we caught three jew and two big tailor, all released and i had a ball !.
