Thanks @Old ScaleySteve, Just looking for a change and to restore work/lifestyle balance back to level the scales more evenly. So i will still have to find some work - hopefully minimal. Worked head down - ass up all my life and now I'm happy to sacrifice money for something more important, our most valuable asset as we age.... time. And yes mate, would love to catch up

Geez you're game retrieving line with bare hands like that @Old ScaleySteve .... one accidental wrap of line around one of your digits and you will have a nice fresh snapper bait .
-
Thanks Kat But there's so many more bigger ones down there!

I tossed and turned Sunday night and into Monday morning, i just couldnt sleep properly - probably the humidity lately. I havn't had a fish for awhile which had been bugging me and as i got out of bed at about 3am to take a leak i checked the wind out on the bay. With a 5 knot northerly and no work to go to Monday, and although i was still tired from little sleep, i thought "stuff it" and hooked the boat up for a dawn solo mission to Redland Bay. I gathered some fresh bait in pretty quick time from a regular bait patch at this time of year and sent them back down with an 8/0 circle in each one. I know to expect vermin this time of year in the bay.... but holy snapping ducks, if anyone ever tries to tell me that the resident shark population is in trouble - i'll just burst out laughing and pee my pants. I reckon i had at least 20 bustoffs by sharks and not all widdle ones either. They are in plague proportions. Anyways i only managed one snapper at 65cm in amongst the grey army, but was good to get out there again and feed the sharks (should start a shark sight seeing charter lol ) and back in about 8am to escape the heat

Yes Steve, fly fishing only allowed I don't know Brian, about 150metres across? But no idea how much water it holds. I noticed once the trout were released they needed a lot of time getting oxygen back into them before they could swim off compared to saltwater fishing ( and we were quick to get them back in) No television and barely enough phone reception on and off - NO people for 4 days... just sheep, cattle and flys! Lots of flys... would make a good Wolf Creek movie hahaaaa

Recieved an invitation form an uncle to get away from the hustle and bustle and head out to Uncle Billy's Retreat out past Glen Innes. First time fly fishing for me but a great big thankyou to Uncle Tony for showing me the ropes on how to cast and handle a fly rod. We both had a great 4 days away staying in the log cabin there and was the most relaxing time i've had for a long time. We didn't take our jumpers and jackets off for the whole time day and night, it was bloody cold and windy. Minimum temps were 2 degrees with maximums of 20 degrees... crazy to think it's December. Lost count of how many rainbows we caught and it was great fun fly fishing for something different . Highly recommend Uncle Billys retreat!!
