@ellicat Not a great fish eater. Just like fishing & trying out new gear, & going to various places to fish.

AUS-BNE-FISHO got a reaction from jimee in Brisbane River Session #289 and #290
Hi all,
I've been out for two pretty terrible sessions the last two weeks. The first session was at Newfarm on a Friday night. When we arrived the water was very dirty, but my Dad had a go with the cast net to see if there were any prawns around yet (as previous years we have caught good numbers of them around this time). Unfortunately, there were no prawns to be seen, although someone did hook something alright that broke them off. I had a flick with a soft vibe for no bites.
Stats:
Tide: 9:00PM, .8M, Low.
Moon Phase: 60%
Air Pressure: 998
Humidity: 59%
Overall Success Rate: 10%
The second session was this morning at Mt Crosby. I had a bit of a dilemma about where to go yesterday but Mt Crosby was definitely the wrong choice.
My Dad and I arrived a bit later than usual, but we still had our first casts a bit before 6. The water was chocolate, and despite the .1M low tide it was still higher than usual due to a lot of water overflowing from the weir. This was pretty disappointing, as it meant the fishing was going to be tricky, but we continued to move around between spots. At about 7 though, with no bites and the sun coming up, we decided to call it quits. I probably won't go back to Mt Crosby until it stops raining for a while. I don't know where I will go fishing next weekend, probably somewhere in the river with livies or lures again.
Stats:
Tide: 7:40AM, .1M, Low.
Moon Phase: New Moon
Air Pressure: 1010
Humidity: 94%
Overall Success Rate: 5%
Anyway, thanks for reading,
Cheers, Hamish.

Disappointing conditions. I'm heading to the Rous on Wednesday to get away from the 'brown'.

Yeah, sorry Tugger (and everyone). John's been dragging the chain for a long time now. We just have to wait for him to get to it.
You can upload to the Google Photos AFO page and then share the link/s if you like. Not ideal, but at least we get to see the pics.

I use JOF and Sougayilang x8 braid on all my reels. Chinese braid is as good as any.

Last trip to Moreton was quite interesting. Went to a spot I normally have good luck at. Been fishing the river lately so was really nice to go fish ocean for once. Water was very dirty which was expected, never seen the water that dirty around that area before so it was quite a change.
Got to the spot early morning and was glassed out which is normally, conditions looking amazing and the hopes of something decent was high. Was planning to go for tuna and mackeral but I normally get tuna in winter, mackeral and maybe cobia was still an option though.
We managed to get some live herring which died pretty quickly so we put it out as dead bait and managed to get a few out live. Sadly only bream were out and something else that kept taking our bait, never know what it was but I doubt it was very big. By then we were fishing for about 3 hours and it was now 11am, decided to get some bream just to have some fun. My small rod was rigged up for lures as I was throwing lures so I decided to use my 7-15kg rod for bream in structure, maybe not the lightest rod but it definitely feels like a 4-8kg rod. I put small cut pieces of herring on a small hook and a small sinker and kept the bait between the shade and sun and managed a couple bream all between 25-32cm.
I put out the rod with herring again and leader got clean bitten off which lifted by hopes up, mackeral were around. After no luck on the stickbait in the morning i decided to put on a 30g metal in a shiny green colour. After a bit of casting a decided to go for bream again. My mate went to practice his casting with the rod later that day around 1pm, 2nd cast mackeral. Wasnt big by any means maybe 35-40cm but still better than nothing. Put a 30g metal on his rod in a bright pink colour and started casting. Got a couple more after that but they were very scattered, not as many bust ups as usual as well.
Anyways that was my trip to Moretan last weekend
Tight lines

Ok. I am in. Will be using my usual strategy of blindly tipping all the QLD teams each week. Worked well last year until the Dolphins ran out of puff, the Cowboys decided to underperform and the Titans….. well less said about them the better. Good luck guys.

Are you getting water from the tell tale ?
If not, pull the bottom of the leg off. Clean out sand from the impeller housing. Replace. See if water now comes from the tell tale. If not, try connecting s hose to the tell tale hose and back wash. Continue until the sand stops coming out. Further, you can remove the thermostat to see if the water is flowing.

G'day Steve, welcome aboard.
Quite a few guys here local to you that fish the Brisbane river to the Bribie Passage.
Ningi Creek upstream a few kilometres has quite a lot of good territory suitable for your kayak or boat. Plenty of bream and flathead and a good number of jacks call it home.
Burpengary Creek has a concrete boat ramp well upstream that gives access to about 7km of creek that can produce well at times. The boat ramp is near 75 O'Leary Avenue, Burpengary East.

Hi guys and girls newly joined and relatively inexperienced at saltwater fishing....used to do a lot of freshwater fishing as a kid in central nsw but havent really fished in last 40 years. Last couple of years l have done a bit of kyack fishing in mainly pine river or nudge river along the airport. Now retired and looking to fill some of my retirement days on the waters here on nth side of brissy but in my boat, l have a 3.8m tinny with 30hp motor but am a bit tentative to use it by myself
I look foreward to reading your posts and hopefully making some friends and possibly joining some of you guys or yous joining me on my boat
thanks guys
Steve
