Hey what casting braid around the 20lb-30lb do you use. I'm happy with the one im using now but want to try out what others are using as well. After 20lb-30lb and will be for mackeral and tuna

I'm currently testing out the new Daiwa Expedition braid.

So far I've only used the 15lb, but find it is super fine, smooth and casts a long way with little effort.

I have some 10lb, 20lb and 40lb to try out yet. Based on the 15lb I'm expecting a positive experience.

No particular braid brand but if it is a casting rod I'll put the more expensive 8-strand braid.

You can feel It's a lot smoother and runs through the guides better when casting.

Are we talking bait caster or spin?

Spin I like superfine like PEX8.

Baitcasters I like thicker braids like Bionic braid...they do not bury when you are fighting hard.

I’ve heard Pentagram braid is good for ultra thin casting braid.

Yeah man Pentagram is amazing, thats all i use. On my heavier rod i run saltiga and sometimes ill run pentagram. I want to try tasline on my heavier rod and varivas casting but ive never heard anyone use the varivas casting lol

Have a look at Shimano’s Ocea PE 1.5. I’ve been using this for years on a couple of reels  for casting lures , It has a very thin diameter and is a good casting braid  - but it is expensive .This stuff is good.

if you have time drop into a tackle store called “Bait “ on the corner of Compton and Kingston Rds Underwood  . They carry a braid called TailWalk Power Eye , this is also a very good braid , thin diameter and I feel it’s more abrasive resistant than the Ocea .

Thanks man ill check that out then, i also saw ocean devil which is quite expensive as well but looks super good. Ill definitly check both of them out. Ill go in today or tomorrow and get some

I am currently tying a cast net knot by knot....I am using an Aliesxpress 9 strand PE braid.

0.17mm dia, 25lb, 1000m and cost me about $30 delivered.

From what I can see it is a damn nice fine braid, tight round weave, nice and limp and seems to be at least the 25lb breaking strain.

Probably twice as nice as the Shimano PowerPro braid and comparable to the current Nomad Panterra braids and nearly the same specs as Tasline.

I will likely be buying this for some of my reels in the future.

YGK Pentagram casts fine, as does Sufix 832.  Will try the Sunline Castway this weekend up  at Monduran.

With a few practice casts the Sunline seems to be a bit firmer and may reduce risk of wind knots.

On a spin reel the Varias PE8 casts nicely but I dont believe it is overly abrasion resistant.

Not a fan of Nomad Panterra at all….could be the massive backlash I got flicking a jig with it

yeah i dont think anyone can persuade me to get aliexpress line on a high end reel. I might skip the varivas then, taline might be another option. Ive tried sunline castway but it didnt last me long

I use Gosen on my 20 and 30lb. 

Diawa Saltiga 12 on my heavy rods. 

 

Both are trouble free for me.

I use JOF and Sougayilang x8 braid on all my reels. Chinese braid is as good as any.
