turdle got a reaction from AUS-BNE-FISHO in A Coombabah creek experience
Yep, my cousin followed me to the pin on his jetski because he wasn't confident avoiding sand banks. I drove as if I was a jet ski and maintained 60+m from all anchored boats or the shoreline when required. He zipped past anchored boats with just 5-10m clearance. I stopped and told him the rules. His response was that fisherman and boats shouldn't block the channels. I told him I was fishing for the rest of the day and he could make his own way home.

Probably very wise of you not to have done that. Though these days you may have been able to claim that you identify as a beaver. In my experience the vast majority of jet ski operators do very little for ensuring that they don't create a stereotype...

I thought that you were doing to say that the candy man appeared, as that slimey character can access his candyshop mansion via saltwater creek.
Glad the hoons got done. I was fishing here
https://maps.app.goo.gl/TLqS4CvA4XhupaPH6 recently and had to duck into the mangroves for cover as an inconsiderate old fart on a jetski with full face helmet and protective gear tore up the 3-4m wide creek as fast as he could go. He didn't even notice that I was there. Felt like gathering all the dead logs and branches and creating an obstacle to make his high speed exit from the creek a little more interesting, but decided against it.

turdle got a reaction from charlie.hans.fishing in Is there a limit to the size of the fishing net since I'm a beginner?
That type definately won't be allowed in salt water. Probably won't be permitted to use it in fresh water either as the opening is not rigid. See https://www.qld.gov.au/recreation/activities/boating-fishing/rec-fishing/rules/equipment
Best of going to your local tackle store and buying suitable pots there. Rules vary state to state, so be aware if you travel into NSW to fish.

You should buy a cast net and learn to throw that, you’ll never have to buy bait again. The Brisbane River has lots of spots you can cast net and it is perfectly legal to use in saltwater (but not freshwater).

Southsider checking in.
Couldn't find a brag mat of suitable size, so measured the green case when I got home. I'm going to go with a conservative 100mm for this Tailor.
Gotta give the northsiders a benchmark to aim for.

Might be safer, and cheaper to take the motor off when not in use and store it in your garage or shed.
Or take the cowling off after each use and put a bucket over the motor (and if you wanna get creative, dress it up like Ned Kelly).

My guess is gates for white water kayaking. Must be somewhere upstream where they can regulate the inflow for this little creek.
