  1. Today
  2. Good luck for the final exams. There's plenty of time for fishing.
  3. Im in Yr 12 now, can't be missing days off school....i wish tho. Those few months after November till uni or whatever next starts are going to be some of the best fishing I'll ever get to do. Days after days of fishing with nothing else on my mind!!!! YES! I won't be fishing next till at least this weekend coming...if i get the chance. Perhaps I can start the June comp off strong??
  4. Im all out of work funded fishing trips for the next few months. Back to weekends, maybe, on the pine. Theres still a few days left if you can manage to chuck a sickie....
  5. You're both there with Ross's fish being the same length as Neil's, so shares first spot.
  6. Damn.... @Ross.Warwick you win....for this month. I don't have any more bream from recent to beat that. However, I will say, that bream has some very beat up fins + yours was on bait! Cheers, Peter
  7. I've been back in reception range for a few days now, still catching up with things. Final submission for the month. 29cm bream, caught on unidentified meat from the cooks.
  8. That's the spirit, Peter. Haha Unlucky @Ross.warwick - so close to the end of the month. That's a healthy looking specimen.
  9. Went for a morning session today, about 2 hours fishing around the neighbours and my families pontoon. I was testing a prawn SP lure which was about 65mm in a grassy green with red flickers made by a fisho on youtube. I managed to land 1 bream and hooked a 2nd however, it ripped out as it splashed on the surface (it was a smaller bream anyway). Ive been really struggling to catch just about anything these past weeks due to the decreasing temps as winter approaches. It was a lure I didn't thing bream would really hit, I was betting on a flathead. Anyway, enough rambling. The only bream I caught over my long weekend. Came out at about 27.5cm. Really that is only a bream which is just legal but having seen the leaderboard and the biggest bream being 29cm i thought I'd add it just to ensure the Ross from Team North was kicked off the bream leaderboard and it could increase the points for team South. Cheers, Peter
  10. Top way to have a proper catchup. That 39 is one fat beast.
  11. My only regret of the day was handing over the rod to you so I could have a 'rest' . Haha Well done.
  12. It’s been way too long since I wet a line, so booked in Sunday with a mate. First spot was very quiet, but a nice sunrise… moved elsewhere and got a few each. Very nice to catch up with my mate and spend some time float watching. All fish are between 30 and 39cm. cheers, Stu.
  13. Yesterday
  14. i use singles for gt and other pelagics and when in a boat or something, but targeting tuna and stuff landbases that tiny more likelihood of hookup with trebles is worth it in my opinion
  15. I actually used the small outboard on that day to try and run it in to get my 5 hours up for it's first service, so I puttered along at 2-3 knots up to Tangalooma from Bulwer so got my 5 hours. That was max speed, fortunately the bay was flat that day,as the Scarab has a deep V hull and the outboard leg would pop out occasionally if I hit a small wave, however the main engine was a 496MAG HO Merc (8L) with a twin counter rotating outboard leg and could easily reach 40 Knots. As a boat it wasn't bad and I spent a lot of dollars and time doing it up and renovating it but unfortunately it had constant engine issues, and so I got tired of throwing money at it. If the missus ever lets me get another boat it definitely won't have an inboard in it.
  16. Nice boat, Ed. Looks a bit under-powered with that 5. haha How'd she get along ? Looks like it would have been a comfy ride.
  17. Damn, I could have saved myself some money with not registering mine but at the time I was told I had to register it. Oooops!, I just had a "Senior" moment, just found an image of it mounted to a bracket on my duckboard, I put it there so that it wouldn't be in the way when not attached to the inflatable and when I expanded the image it clearly shows 5HP, so my bad! For some reason I thought it was a 4HP, I also vaguely think that it might have been a Tohatsu, (same motor but different brand label). Old age strikes again!

  19. Just had a look at the MSQ rules (see attached pdf file). Page 2 RHS Only needs to be registered if over 4hp. choosingyourboat-1.pdf
  20. I do know it was a pain to paint on the rego numbers on the inflatable sides, had to get a special paint that stuck to the vinyl sides. It was a 2.3m long inflatable as at the time I was going up to the Whitsundays and needed a small boat to go back and forth to the shore and get supplies but still be small enough to pack it away when travelling, but because of the regs and the safety gear required there was not a lot ( or any) room left on the boat. I ended up selling it and the motor for $1200 (motor had only done 5 hours).
  21. OK. I was always under the impression 4hp was no rego and 6 was, as well as a 6hp requiring a licence. That being why boat hire places used to only run 4hp motors. Maybe things have changed.
  22. I know an old fellow that uses them for bait for sand crabs in the bay during winter....gets good bags of sandies on them every soak.
  23. Not sure if that is a distinction, as when I bought my last inflatable, I put a new 4 HP Merc on it and I was required to register it. They may round it up and say it is a 4HP, it might be a 3Kw and or 4HP.
  24. 4 hp is 2.9828 kw, so just makes it into the non rego class.
  25. As far as I remember, any standalone boat (not a tender) that has a 3kw motor (4HP) has to be registered and required to have all the safety gear for the area they are in and also rego numbers painted on the hull even if it is an inflatable.
