benno573 got a reaction from Bretto77 in fishing goals for 2024
My goals are to spend more time fishing with my kids and more time on the kayak. Captures would be a bonus.
also would like to help my “special” (as in the yellow bus kind of special) friend get his first whiting over 40 and first ever threadfin. You know who you are.

sounds like a great way to spend an afternoon. rat kingies go like hell when chasing them around on the rocks!

benno573 got a reaction from Kat in terrified chooks
my late border collie dragon was very into science. he tried to clone a turkey one day by splitting it into many many many small pieces and sat waiting for them to grow into new turkeys. unfortunately he didn't get the growth hormone solution at the right ratio so i had to spend 20 minutes raking up all the feathers...
the rest of the turkeys apparently got the message - haven't seen on in mine or any of the neighbours yard since.

benno573 got a reaction from Bretto77 in not quite the ton
with scores like that your spot in the team is safe for sure, i feel a tonne is just around the corner.
now if you could only take some wickets as well... 🙄

It is cricket season afterall. The barred grunter could be considered sundries, so a ton plus score really.

benno573 got a reaction from AUS-BNE-FISHO in help with reel and braid
for bream and flathead anything from 10 - 20lb would be fine, generally the lighter the better but a lot of people feel more comfortable with something a little heavier. The rod / reel would be fine for anything up to 20lb. good luck

benno573 got a reaction from ellicat in cast net to buy?
no cast net is good for rocks or any other underwater obstruction for that matter. they destroy or steal cast nets in no time at all.
I would look at the biggest monofilament cast net with bottom pockets i could afford in the budget. you might get an 8ft in that price range, i don't know exactly, I haven't looked for ages. the usual shops often have "20% off all castnets by brandX" specials which are worth waiting for.
