Thanks Lance. Hope all is going well with you mate. Last I recall you had some health challenges a few years ago? I hope you've kicked that to the curb and been back on the water mate. How's that deep water game going?

The deep water game is going well mate, still out there till recently when that curb jumped up at me a couple of months ago again.

Iv'e just been relased from hospital on Monday night after a 23 day stay and some emergency brain surgery but hopefully things will be all good for a while now and in a couple of months time I will be back out there chasing something in the deepwater along the coast somewhere.

It's a very snug fit, Lance, which is good so it won't vibrate.

I found the best way for me to install it was to take it to the pros at Coorparoo Marine. A lot less swearing as well. haha

Yes well that saves you stuffing the measurements up,lol.

Iv'e had at least half a dozen customers fit their rod holders at incorrect spacings now and the only way around it is to move the rod holders or build them a new board with leg spacings that fit their rod holders which costs them a lot more in the long run as it becomes a custom build.

So far only 1 guy has tried to blame me for his board not fitting his rod holders that he fitted himself, lol

Well, I got the electric winch the week before last and installed it. Wow, so eay and probably no slower than me winching manually. Very happy. Thanks again for the help on choosing it @rayke1938 and @aussie123.

Also installed a new livewell supplied by @aussie123 / www.reeltackle.com.au

It came up very nicely. Got it installed this week. Again, very happy and can now accommodate a few more rods and can keep them out of the way.

Just waiting on a bracket to show up so I can plumb it with bilge pump etc.

    That looks awesome Brian.

Good to see that you got the rod holder spacings correct, so many people miss it by this <-> much, lol.

As soon as those brackets come back into stock, I will shoot one straight over to you.

If by a miracle they are the real deal I think I’ll be replacing all my reels!

If anyone thinks that these are genuine Shimano reels, you will be horribly disappointed when or if they arrive.

These are chinese knockoffs and have been floating around for a while now.

Also be prepared for customs to sieze them if they suspect them to be Shimano copies.

  5. Single axle trailers with an ATM up to 750kg do not need brakes

750kg up to 2000kg need brakes and they can be any type including over run style of brakes.

All brake types besides over runs need a brake controller installed inside the car to manually control the trailer if needed.

Over an ATM of 2000kg you need a brake away system installed in case you lose the trailer off the coupling or the tow bar brakes.

You also need to have the axles, suspension, rims and tyres as well as the towbar and coupling of a suitable size to meet ADR standards.

It will depend on final weights and axle spacings as to whether you need a single braked axle or all axles braked.

Converting an old trailer to a braked trailer that fully meets ADR Standards is quite an expensive exersize and could very easily cost a few grand depending on the type and quality of brakes you decide to fit so do some serious homework before you buy the boat.

Thanks for the advice and tips. Have ordered a couple of trolling boards from @aussie123 and couple of spoons as well (ended up getting the two smaller sized boards 6 and 8m) Will try to get the technique sorted out and post the results. @GregOug this is why I enjoy fishing trying new things out and when they come off it’s so rewarding. I’m the same have bought countless lures with best intentions, some still boxed but trying to turn a new leaf, got to experiment because one things for sure the lure in the tackle box aint catching fish. Plus would rather lose a lure trying.

    Thanks Hweebe

Just remember the depths listed for all types of trolling boards and paravanes is determined by how much line you let out and the speed that you tow them.

I will get your order out today as well.

    Thanks

    Lance

We are camping at Teebing at Wathumba Creek so marks in the north eastern bay and around Rooney Point would be amazing. As I am sure you are very aware it will be windy with south easters so probably only areas close to Fraser.

    No worries mate.

I have already packed the gps into the car as we are off early tomorrow so when i set it up in the boat up there I will grab some for you.
