I rang to see how you guys went but Lance must be screening his calls these days.😜
You got some great weather and the small tides may have contributed to the slow bite. You still got some amazing fish to bring home. That's a cracker photo of Tugger in crystal clear water.
I'm chaffing to get up there again.
Got do lots of product testing @Luke Landrunner 😉

My wish list for 2020 is:
1: To catch a legal sized mudcrab
2: To catch a Mackerel (Spotty, Spano, any)
    3: To catch a Barramundi
4: To catch a Threadfin Salmon
5: To catch anything other than a catfish, ANYTHING.
All 5 are seemingly impossible, but  i just keep on trying.

My tips on this would be to try and launch at harbours or ramps protected from current and wind. I launch and retrieve my Fisher 5.6m solo - I pull the winch hook/cable down towards the end of the trailer before I hop in and reverse down the ramp and use a bow rope to swing the boat around as needed - you could also tie on a stern rope to give more control from the back of the boat if you feel you need it. My boat has a canopy which catches the wind a bit but I manage fine.
When my kids were too young to fish, I found night sessions in the river were a good compromise.

    to actually wet a line
Having a baby kind of destroys any concept of free time....loved every bit of it though
feel sorry for my boat collecting cobwebs. Need to learn to go on solo trips, thats all i want for next year, confidence in solo launch and retrieve trips

To start catching more keepers in the Bay with my wife and boys and also to get out after winter whiting more regularly. Then in Sep/Oct I want to catch my first ever barra and queenfish when we go to Cape York, anything else will be a bonus 🙂

Ok, so 2019 is pretty much done and dusted for me.  Now I don’t work any more and can get out on the water while most of you are are doing the hard yards at work, I will probably stay off the water until the Xmas break is over. But I am already thinking about my fishing goals for next year. Here they are:
    1. Get amongst the prawns in the late summer/early Autumn run. I have a good net and lots of time available but will need to sharpen up my casting and find a good deckie to help me out with the boat manoeuvres and take turns at casting.
    2. Mangrove jack - haven’t chased them for a while and haven’t caught one for a few years, so they are on the list.
    3. Macks- school, spotted or Spanish, In Moreton Bay or beyond.
    4. Catch a longtail tuna in Moreton Bay.  Have caught them in other places but they have defeated me so far in the Bay.
Pretty modest list really. Anyone else care to share their wish list for 2020?

    Gday Old Scaley
Some of my goals are different to yours (I assume you've already achieved them) but here they are.
    1. A metre+ jewie
    2. Go out on the bay (Moreton) and hook up to some sort of pelagic on my kayak
    3. Same as you guys, 40cm whiting and metre murray (hopefully holidaying somewhere)
    4. A big bull shark and line under 100lb
    Cheers Hamish

Lance and I set off from brisbane to stay the night in town at Agnes waters the next morning we set off early heading north to the bunker group. It started off slow with most spots without fish but the fish that did hit the deck were quality. Big red throat and tuskies pulled hard and Lance hooked a big trout it went 65cm.

We kept working hard and put more trout, rte, tusky and cod in the box. On a spot we had 2 Cobia swim up to the Boat and Lance dropped a bait in front of it taking the bait the cobes took off and after 5 minutes got sharked. Before sunset it was time to look for red emperor. On a red spot I hooked a big tusky only to get sharked with just the head to show no reds turned up either.
Anchoring up behind the reef we got a good night's sleep then at it again the next day. The one thing with multiple days you get to know where they're biting and when. So the reds might chew early morning and they did I found a small red emperor going 62cm.
We found no more reds in my go to spot so off to new ground here Lance hooked a good tomatoe cod as I hooked a big red. My fish fought hard head thumping as they do and peeling line at times and slowly I start to gain line. He fought all the way to the Boat and hit the deck at 78cm and about 12kg.

A marlin swam past the boat and we through baits out with no luck. The fish went off the chew out deep so we moved in close finding a couple more trout. The fish went really quiet and with no wind it was hot and time for a swim.

The fishing in the late arvo was red hot and the quality was there with Lance landing the best red throat going 55cm and it pulled hard. We bagged out at 5pm on the coral reef fin fish with 40 fish onboard we went to anchor as the wind had picked up.
The next morning we set off early heading south to a mackerel spot but no luck there. The run home was perfect with less than 5 knots all morning and a good trip home on the road we rolled in just after dark.

Bass were a bit fussy this morning, they would get sick of the lure after each 2 fish.I could not get past 2 bass on the same lure. Managed 22 bass before 10am then home out of the heat.

FYI the measured mile are the blue circles below. but you can hit every beacon from the from of the brisbane river all the way to moreton. if you can sound out bait around the beacons, youre in with a good chance of finding macks

Focus on the beacons mate. you can spend all day chasing them but i find just anchoring near a beacon and throwing slugs and floating pillies all day does the trick. There are a few good tutorials on youtube for Moreotn Bay mackerel. below is a good simple tutorial
