  1. This is the one I got . For sun protection even though I don’t really need it I tan quite easily with sun screen my dad has fairly brown skin so it makes sense I don’t get burned often . Never the less my mum is always telling me to wear a hat and sun protection lol
  2. Awesome got plenty of fishing funds now! You’ll be able to get some good stuff with all that sneaky1 . I got $50 bcf gift card a $50 note airpods skatetool guitar strings picks and a daiwa multi scarf also a packet of FC rock in 6lb and a packet of baitjunkie plastics!
  3. Yeah lol those luderick will eat anything most people say they only eat sea cabbage but they eat anything from bread prawns small bait fish oysters basically the same diet as a bream they can also be caught on lures to . But the most effective bait I think is sea cabbage but I’ve hooked heaps of decent size luderick on bread they seem to love bread although I’ve been busted off by some of the bigger ones on 2lb leader might have to up the strength to 4lb leader so I can finally land these big fish. I’ve also found sea cabbage in bream guts to so it’s possible to catch bream on sea cabbage I’ve gutted a few bream now and found sea cabbage
  4. Yeah definitely a luderick . Fishbrain isn’t good for identifying Australian fish so don’t use it for that purpose
  5. Yeah bad forecast is props more annoying but both are a pain
  6. Yeah that gliss stuff would be perfect for casting baits out far . You would easily fit 300m on a thunnus ci4
  7. Yeah my closet beach has a sand erosion issue to its a bit annoying because the river was shut off to the ocean for awhile and the fish near the ocean in the river were in very poor health luckily it’s opened up again
  8. For a setup I would go with a daiwa aird rod 3-7kg matched with a shimano stradic FL 4000 spooled with 24lb gliss the 3000 size reel is just a little bit low on spool capacity for 300m of 24lb Gliss you could fit 150m easy on a 3000 but 300m is a bit to much for that size even though shimanos website is a little bit off you can usually fit way more line they what it says on the website I still think it would be to small and a 4000 size reel would probably match the rod a bit better to
  9. Yeah gliss is a excellent thin line I haven’t had any fraying issues yet and I’ve used it a fair bit now . Basically it’s just like braid but a lot thinner and also has a slightly different feel to it . It has excellent casting but because it’s so thin it isn’t that abrasion resistant but as long as you tie a leader you will be fine . I’m gonna test out the 42lb gliss soon on sharks i can easily fit 300m of it on a 5000 sedona because it’s so thin . I already have Gliss on a sienna 2500 with 13lb and the 10lb on a Stradic 1000 . The 10lb line is more like 6lb braid and the 13lb line is more like 8lb braid in terms of diameter . I’ve only had 1 wind knot so far but I’ve put heaps of hours on the stuff and haven’t had any issues just be sure to check you’re leader connection knots before you use it . The Gliss around 25lb would easily fit on 3000 size reel I’ll check and see if you can fit 300m of 25lb line on a 3000 size also it’s very cheap going between $10-20 depending if you get 150m or 300m. Personally for reels I like reels that have a good gearing system if I’m chasing larger fish I would go with something like a Stradic FL they have a excellent drag and the larger sizes have carbon washers. it has a aluminium drive gear with a worm gear oscillation system its a very strong reel that doesn’t flex with big fish I could go on and on about features of the reel but basically it’s just a very good reel for the price .for a rod I like the atomic series rods with many different models there is basically a rod for most applications but like aus-bne-fisho and ED said those ugly stiks are excellent rods for bait fishing I haven’t used them but I’ve seen a lot of big fish landed on them I also like the aird x and aird 20 rods by daiwa excellent rods with great pulling power used the 2-4kg model for mangrove jack and my PB queenie handled those fish nicely
  10. Yeah I know that but everywhere I’ve looked they are considered a threatened speices though
  11. You can still catch them in those areas you just have to be dedicated it’s sort of like Murray cod fishing you have to be dedicated and put the effort in to catching one or a few and they are a few people around those areas that catch a fair few regularly but they definitely aren’t super common like bream or flathead like you would have to be extremely lucky to catch one when chasing another speices like flathead . Like in my river system it’s easier to catch a bull shark then a jewfish
  12. Thanks I’ll definitely be using these tips for the shark comp hosted by @AUS-BNE-FISHOi have a 7’ Foot 6-9kg rod gonna be matched with a 5000 sedona spooled with 300m of 42lb Gliss going to 5 metres of 70lb mono connected via FG knot going down to a 12 inch wire trace down to a 7/0 hook
  13. No they aren’t random people . Wiki Can be wrong some times I went to some other sources such as DPI fishing world mag . And some not so reliable randoms but all said similar things .in nsw you’re can take a max of 1 jewie a day . I think queensland is a lot better but I know a lot of spots between Kempsey and Nelson bay have very low stock on Mulloway but the numbers are starting to rise up which is good they are becoming more and more common to catch in those sort of areas now idk if this is due to stricter regulations or some of the DPI’s programs with Mulloway but it’s slowly working but they still considered a threaten speices
  14. Are you sure Mulloway aren’t threaten I’ve heard of heaps of people releasing them now and even DPI have put in programs to increase population And everywhere I’ve read on the internet it says they are a threaten speices .
  15. Sounds good can’t wait just a suggestion though should we do most sharks caught category
  16. Threadfin salmon are a lot rarer then most other speices so I can understand where hamish is coming from i think it’s Similar to jewfish in NSW I’m pretty sure jewfish now are a threatened speices I doubt threadfin are that rare though
  17. Yeah I think Alvey really should have just sticked to their original reels They can’t compete with what daiwa and Shimano have for same price. Although That’s really just for spin reels I’ve always considered baitcast reels to always have better gears and overall better design then most spin reels hopefully the Alvey baitcasters are better then their spin reels it will be good to see what it’s like a year later . Also I don’t think everything in a baitcast reel is better then a spin reel especially drags most bait cast reels I’ve seen have ok drags but compared to spin reels I’ve found spin reels to have better drags
  18. Lmao yeah need to work on my English
  19. If you’re looking for a 7 foot rod for squiding I would go with a . Atomic arrows bream surface rod it’s a slow action 1.5-3.5kg rod i haven’t used it for squid but it works great for soft plastics and bait fishing and is really good for keeping the hook on fish with soft mouths so it should be good for squid . The rod retails anywhere from $118-140 although I got mine for $112 great medium end rods at a budget price . For a reel to match it I would normally go with a 1000 size shimano reel but really it matches up with 1000 and 2000 size reels and some light weight 2500 size reels. I would go with a daiwa emeraldis but depending on your budget a sedona 1000 or 2000 would suit it fine . But there are many different combos that would work well but the atomic arrowz bream surface rod is probably one of the best rods for the price also the EGI rods by atomic arrowz look good to and a probably better for squid fishing
  20. Awesome job on thesalmon hamish hopefully next time you get one this big you can release it . Never the less awesome job glad you could smash one of your 2021 goals before 2021
  21. Welcome to the forum Tim there are many great reports on here. Everyone here is great and offers good advice if wanted
  22. No I don’t fish near people especially for shark fishing and I think most people are the same. The main problem I have with the video is that there are drum lines all along the nsw coast mainly around the beachs usually 500m from the shore. they attract everything from sharks birds fish and even to turtles. When a shark eats the bait it gets hooked then the fisheries get notified that the shark has been hooked and relocate the shark . The problem with this is because many times the sharks die from stress because it takes fisheries a long time to get there by the time they have been notified . Second problem is because they attract other things that get tangled and hooked wildlife like birds and turtles .third thing is they attract sharks closer to the swimming beaches so in opinion I don’t see anyone benefits to drum lines I only see disadvantages . It’s also like the shark nets .one of my dads friends worked for something to due with water can’t remember now could have been water police but not sure anyway he often said that the nets kept more sharks in the beach rather then out of the beach . and i just don’t like the fisheries in general cause i see a lot of illegal fishing activitie where I’m from and nothing gets done about it . Queensland looked a lot better when I went up there in terms illegal fishing and regulations some areas in nsw are controlled by well by fisheries like sydney but not many
  23. Says the same government who puts baited drum lines 500m off swimming beach’s with documented proof of them being harmful to marine life such as turtles and birds .so for the government to have the audacity to say this really pisses me off anyway wether the government wants me to berley for sharks or not to berley for sharks I’m gonna do it anyway I have 0 respect for the fisheries not the fisherie officers themselves but the government that’s in change of fisheries. Sorry to get so political but it is in the political thread
