Head out through the markers and turn left. You will see the ledge on your sounder. If it's still shallow turn 90 degrees right and head away from shore and you will eventually find the drop off. It won't be far away and you may well see other yakkers there.
Good luck.
Thanks mate first trip out there. Looking at a 5am launch

Just shows how immature the Northsiders are compared to us mature Southsiders!
Cheers Hamish

Funny ask Steve, but no it didn't, instead it looked rather upset at being caught at 1:30pm in the arvo, in a busy waterway with lots of boats heading back in from a day's fishing.
Me on the other hand, I had a very cheeky smile ....... . All of the previous mentioned details (cast wrong way for the drift, cursed myself thinking it had caught on the motor) are true, so I am feeling very lucky to have scored my PB snapper under such circumstances. Goes to show, you never know what you could catch on any given day.
Very nice

No wonder Southside are killing it, they seem to be on the water a lot! has anyone from the north had a fish? I’ve had one with only a squid to report

Big effort mate with no result. Sorry to hear it. How does Scott point normally fish?
A few OzFish members are about to start an OzFish chapter up your way. Not sure of the name yet perhaps Redcliff, Woody point or similar, I will obviously be leaving all that to the members up there.
They are hoping to restore sea grass beds and oyster reefs starting at Woody point and it should greatly improve the fishing.
Is that something you would be interested in being part of? Members can do as much or as little as they like. It costs $25 to join and you get more than that back in merch and a BCF voucher.
Hi mate
yeh I’d be interested.
Apparently Scott's is meant to fish well, just not for me oh well try again

Shame you didn't get any, Leosonfire. The squid must've been an OK capture. I'm surprised that nothing liked it seeing as though it was as fresh as it gets...
Cheers Hamish
Yeh disappointing

Eye balls hanging out my head this morning! Did a night session in the yak off Scott point from 9-1am. Conditions were perfect, no wind little current and little fish I did land a nice squid who seemed to take a fancy for my whole pillie, he must have grabbed it as I was retrieving. I quickly ripped his head off and sent it plummeting to the bottom For no results! Anyway had fun But didn’t get to bed until 230 and found two kids in their as well cobwebs shaken next session results. #alwaysnorthside

I’m kinda hoping you other northsiders are out fishing for the comp. I’m too busy bantering and educating Southsiders to have time for fishing.

Excitement is building, anglers from all over Brisbane are preparing their rigs, Oiling their Reels and patching holes in their boats in preparation for this years suburbs of origin! This years northsiders v southsiders battle looms as one for the ages. @Cobiaaddict is the bookies pick to take out largest snapper with @Allnighter Close behind. Questions are a plenty this year, will @ellicat catch more fish or smoke them out? Can @Drop Bear and His secret weapon @AUS-BNE-FISHO Deliver the goods? Will @GregOug finally catch a fish? So stay tuned folks, it’s going to be a ripper!

Today I went back down to Cooktown wharf . Wharf was fairly busy no one catching anything but were getting bites . I defrosted some herring I caught the other night cut it into small pieces and baited up my 2-4kg rod instead of my 1-3kg try something a bit different I thought .was using a small hook 6lb braid and 10lb leader for Because of all the oysters and rocks and my usual 1000 Stradic fl I flicked my bait a couple of metres maybe 2-3 as my bait sunk to the bottom I got a huge run I set my hook then all of the sudden I get a screaming drag and the fish just doesn’t stop after about a 40m run in 30 seconds I start slowly winding the fish in and it goes for a few more shorter runs about 5-7 metres a couple people bring their lines in so the fish doesn’t get tangled as I bring the fish closer It’s a turns out it was a queenfish took about 7 minutes to bring in and other 3 or so to land I found a sandy bank and pulled the fish onto the bank and a massive queenfish was successfully landed . It took me 3 or so minutes to setup first cast I got the fish then shortly after killing and bleeding the fish I left I was their no longer then 20 minutes talk about a good session that ended up with a new PB fish was 69cm I wish the online fishing comp started today so I could put that in the trevally section for team north hopefully I will get another one like that for the Comp didn’t weigh the fish but was probably around 5-7kg the fillets alone were probably around 4-5kg
Brilliant mate well done bring another of those in for us northsiders
