I didn’t realise that. I felt sure Neil would have won every category. 🤪
    Where do you see that?
Regardless, it was a very expensive way to get a win. lol.

So, okay. Watch out fellow competitors! I’m coming for you in March. Go Northside!

Had a very unexpected catch today, I got a big hit while dead sticking a hardbody, big head shake followed by a powerful pull, I was expecting a cod but ended up landing a damn carp.
I've never caught one on a big hard body like that before, I guess things are getting hungry.

We head out today with Declan to make the most of the fortnight he is up.  The forecast was somewhat confounded for Wednesday. I got up at 3.30am and checked the live readings and the Bom Radar and nearly called it. I stayed true and we head out. It was a little lumpy going out, but that was the worst of it and it was a beautiful day and a lot better then the forecasts.  We fished in a lot of depths and the bite was difficult, the almanac did say it was going to be a poor day.  When we did manage to hook up, the Taxman 🦈 took his cut very quickly which gave us a lot of frustration.
Anyway Declan caught his PB Red Bass and pulled out of 135m, manually. He was puffing a bit when he got it up.  It is a pitty that we can not eat these fish on the East Coast.

I'm not sure what's worse. Last time I was there (maybe 15 years ago) @rayke1938 was typically cleaning up on the barra, so he took me and a couple of other members out to get us a barra. To that point none of us had got one. Sure enough one of the other members hooks up and lands a nice one. We were trolling and it was agreed that the next hookup I would take. Soon after, there was a hookup. I took the rod and wound in a big cattie. Aaaarrrrggghhh. haha  I still haven't caught even one.

Yeah I totally get it!  I haven't experienced great fishing, having only been a fisho for a few years - but I certainly know people who have fished the easier times or more abundant places. I am definitely not experienced enough (or maybe dedicated enough) to be a Neil Stratford or Daryl McPhee etcetera in SEQ.
A sunrise or sunset photo on the water is another option 😸 and always appreciated.

PS Don't forget the comp - they would be leading in the snapper category.

A shame the bait was limited and the nibblers wasted them. You still got a couple most of us would be eating. haha

I take photos of photo worthy fish only....for a snapp that would be over 60cm fork length, a legal jew, a 65cm + flathead, a 50cm+ jack.
I never ever pose with a fish.....my face will break a camera.
I guess I am spoiled to have caught lots of good large fish in my younger years....fish these days seem small and insignificant to me unless it is large by today's standards.
Most people these days can't fathom a std Wednesday night session for jacks where you boat 8 fish in 2 hours within 30km of Petrie....or more than 20 jacks in a 3 hour window just north of Bundy....
It was nothing at all to go to the rock wall at Pelican Park and catch 6 flathead over 60cm in 30 minutes on small hard body lures....or 10 big tiger squid from the same place in June...
