My guess is gates for white water kayaking. Must be somewhere upstream where they can regulate the inflow for this little creek.

    Hi guys and girls,
Had quick morning session before crappy, life stuff that gets in the way of fishing, other commitments.
A perfect early morning, warm, no wind and start of the run-in tide.
When you paddle up a creek in these conditions with a bright orange sunrise, smooth glassy water and the birds in full song it's hard to remember what time you had to be at other commitments, why and what excuses you can think of to get out of them. 😬
Not a lot of fish caught but found a few flathead and a nice healthy little jack.
I have become obsessed with chasing jacks, such an aggressive hard fight fish.
Even the smaller ones nearly rip the rod out of your hands when they smash your lure, and they seem to hit soon as you are daydreaming and not paying attention.
    Thanks.

Couldn't find a brag mat of suitable size, so measured the green case when I got home. I'm going to go with a conservative 100mm for this Tailor.
Gotta give the northsiders a benchmark to aim for.

    Hi all
i have recently started targeting some brisbane river bullsharks near my home in Bulimba as it is starting to warm up again. I had some success on Sunday when I caught a nice 84cm pup (which I was pretty pleased with). I finished school early today and thought I might try and catch a few more. I sent out some fairly small slabs of eel and a big eel head on my bigger spin rod. After waiting for around an hour I started getting some small taps on my bigger spin gear and didn’t think much of it so I waited for about 10 minutes. All of a sudden it springs into life and takes a slow run, so I flick over my bait runner and hold on. To my surprise my it shoots off taking a run lasting around 30 seconds on tight drag. It takes me 15-20 minutes to finally get it to shore and it turns out to be a 207cm behemoth off a bullshark. I sent it’s two remoras back into the river and managed to dehook it and it released (after some coaxing) back to its home safely.
For context I am 6,3 so it looks small😂

    Morning all,
The jack addiction has well and truly kicked in again now the weathers getting warmer.
Managed to get out for an afternoon flick using soft plastics and hard body lures. Picked up a few flathead bycatch but not much action for most the afternoon.
I had pretty much given up any hope of a jack and was about to pack it in and thought I'd throw a couple of casts under the bridge next to where my car was parked and hook up to a nice 43cm jack.
I was lucky it ran away from the closest bridge pylon heading towards the pylon on the other side which gave me a couple of seconds to turn its head.
Hooking up close to the pylons usually end for me in a split second, you feel the hit and by the time I've lifted the rod back its all over with a snapped leader wrapped around the oysters on the pylon.
And if you can't turn them quick with a tight drag, they usually drag me and the kayak into the bridge pylon within a few seconds.
You can see in the vid, in only the few seconds till I got it's head up it had almost dragged my kayak into the bridge.
They are such a strong aggressive fish.
Sorry for the over excitement in the vid when I get it in the net🤣, just couldn't believe I hooked one when I'd thought the day was over.

    Sounds like a good trip.
Bush to beach. Well done on the flathead, I haven't been to Station creek for years now, nice spot.

Stayed at Paddy's flat and then the gorge for a couple of nights each.
    Glad you found the fish.
Moved to station creek for final couple of nights and managed some good sized flathead in the shallow creek. Others fishing the beach didn't get anything.

You had more luck than me. Spent a few days last week on the Clarence and landed just one 10cm bass. Got it just as a massive storm rolled in. Saw plenty of fish, but couldn't entice a bite. The waterways were alive though after the floods. At night the frogs were deafening (80+db), and the shallows were teaming with thousands of small baitfish eating the millions of bugs on the surface and the larger fish were smashing the little fish that were too close to the deeper water. Action everywhere but at the end of the line.
