  1. A gentleman doesn't kiss and tell Prostate is in good health
  2. Good luck mate, soooooooooo much fun on surface. Cheers mate, yeah still crook but no way I'm going back to that doctor lol
  3. Yeah slept the night next to the creek, woke up with a herd of cows all standing around me looking confused. lol The bass were still biting but I only fished for an hour, man flu got the better of me.
  4. Reading that recipe made me hungry. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm, marinated chicken strips on the bbq
  5. I managed to score a few days off work mid-week, and being the first week of open bass season in Northen NSW it was a no brainer of what I was going to do. That night I loaded the ute, tied on fresh leaders, then couldn't sleep in anticipation of the first bass flick of the season. The alarm screamed at me at 4am, jumped out of bed then suddenly realized my throat felt like dry sandpaper and my nose felt like someone had squeezed a full tube of silicon up each nostril..............MAN FLU........NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.. It takes a fair bit to stop me going fishing, tried to walk it off round the yard then headed back to bed thinking, "WOW, I must be sick". Headed to the doctors who said I had a cold (really?? lol) and need to rest a few days, he also noted that I am now over 50 and should have a prostate exam......and asked me " Would you like one?" ........................WOULD I like one? ......WOULD I like one? What sort of a question is that? Every time I go to a doctor, now I am over 50, they always ask me that. Why? Do they enjoy the nervous squeamish look on people's faces???? Anyway, Slept all day, dreaming of catching bass, woke on the couch at 3am the next morning and thought "stuff it, I'm going". What does a doctor know???? I mean he asked WOULD I like a prostate exam, lol. Soooo glad the "need to fish" won the battle of "need to recover" as the fishing was well worth pushing myself to get up and moving. Here is a vid of the morning and arvo surface session. The weather was extremely hot for the first week of spring, 32 degrees in the shade at 11am, don't know if that's why the bass were hitting the surface so well or if it was because a lot of the grass and trees along the bank had been burnt away meaning they weren't getting much food from the frogs and insects etc. that they would usually be getting? I was using the Zman frogs. How good is bass surface fishing.
  6. ^^ Agree with the above. No need for a swivel to join your braid to leader. I also always use the simple loop knot to attach the lure/soft plastic, I had a snap clip open once and lost a good fish so haven't used once since. Good luck.
  7. This winter I have been using the micro shad fryz soft plastics for bream. Really small soft plastic, they look like a small hardie head in the water. Bream love them. You need to rig them on a light gauge finesse hook though because they are so tiny.
  8. Maybe you should try spooning for tailor, lol, like I did today.
  9. lol, I was about to say it looks like a baby jew but its jaw shape looks different.
  10. Damn, I was hoping the right answer prize was a left-handed screwdriver. What type of fish are you chasing? Bait or lure?
  11. 100% agree on lure quality or type of lure. I cast some larger hardbody lures from the beach in the surf. Some you can cast a mile while others of the same weight cast half the distance. Lures with most of their weight in the tail end of the lure get a lot more distance. Some of the fancy $$$$$ lures will have a sliding weight inside them so when you cast the weight slides to the tail and they fly dead straight like a bullet, they don't spin, twist of flutter through the air, then the weight slides forwards more on retrieve.
  12. Very nice yella, your luck with the rain was better than mine, it stopped raining, so I went fishing but as soon as I got set up it poured down. lol Packed up and went home...........then the rain stopped.
  13. Think you guys are having the same crappy weather we are having in NSW, wind and showers for over a week now. Good job getting out there in these conditions. Love the little slim swimz, that motor oil colour always seems to find a fish.
  14. Top work. I have only just started chasing blues off the rocks, damn they go hard, how big you think it went?
  15. I wonder why the colours that use to work best get no results now ? Do you have a theory? The early morning sunrises on the water are just a magic time of the day. Thanks mate, The jack addiction is real, lol. They are such a powerful fish for their size. That first hit when they smash your lure is so fast and aggressive.
  16. Hi guys and gals, I haven't put a report up for a bit, work gets in the way of fun unfortunately. Finally got a day to chase some jacks, with summer over the clock is ticking till the water starts to cool and the jacks go into hiding. Launched the kayak in the dark, way too early as I couldn't sleep, too excited, was chucking lures in my sleep lol. I was fishing with the Zman 4" paddle tails, white in colour, and was pretty pumped to land a 45cm angry jack at first light just before the sun poked its head over the horizon. Once the sun was up and blazing the wind and incoming tide had me drifting waaaaay too fast in the kayak to get more than 1 cast at a snag before having to paddle...........I'm too lazy to do that so went in for an early lunch and moved to another creek nearby with less flow and more wind protection. Managed to hook into a bit of jack bycatch, small flattys, tiny trev and minute estuary cod till finally came up tight with another jack. Was only 34cms, but after a million casts, sore arms from paddling all day and sunburn it makes it all worth it. It's kind of funny, came in totally exhausted and dehydrated and thought " wow that was a lot of effort for only 2 jacks", but I would do it all over again tomorrow if I didn't have to work. lol
  17. 40cm whiting is the elbow slapper model, haven't caught a slapper yet this year, well done.
  18. Now THAT is awesome. I have always wanted to have a go at fly fishing, my mates laugh when I say that as Im bad enough at hooking people, trees, the side of the boat......well anything near me when I cast a lure, Imagin the damage I could do with an extra 10m of fly line flicking it around lol.
  19. The patterns on cod are just amazing. I have only ever caught eastern cod, which look almost identical, but are a protected species. Nice catch.
  20. I got a bit worried when the title of your post was " Bow fishing mishap today", then your first sentence was " I went out for a drive with my wife today" I wasn't sure where this post was going to head and wondered if it was on 7 news?????? but glad your wife is still alive, bugger about your injury though. Speedy recovery.
  21. Niiiiccce, gotta love that early time of day when the skys red and wind is low that most people, who don't fish, miss. If you have too many prawns I can take some off your hands if you like......just cause I'm a nice guy........you know....and like to help others out.......
  22. Nice pics and awesome session.
  23. Congrat's on the new PB, what a beast!!!!!! Only 58 bass???? That's a rest day for you. lol
  24. The new reel is going well, the rod that came with it was a 2 piece, but the first big jack hit turned it into a 3 piece. lol I'll see if I can find the footage of the palm frond day, got some strange looks from on lookers that day. lol
  25. I have only just started following what the barometer readings are each time I head out. So far, very limited time of taking readings, I have still caught plenty of fish when the readings are low. I had a jack session a few days ago where the reading was 999.9, really low, and still found a couple of good fish. I think the air pressure dose have an effect on the fishing, but I wouldn't NOT go fishing going on a low reading. Just my limited knowledge 2 cents.
