  1. With the big swells on the beach & rocks 3 to 4 meters we headed for somewhere Quiter. Arrived around sunrise, sunny & cool. Blackfish & bream were the go. Caught two nice blackfish straight away. Went quite. Moved to the south side of the bridge. Waited for a while, then two bream. Puppy was happy. Moved further up the chanel. Landed two more blackfish. That was enough. Called it a day. Cheers.

  3. Hi All. It has been raining here for over a week. Still raining today with more to come. Thursday was the only fine day. Sunny. Arrived around Sunrise. Had the place to myself. Walked around nothing happening. Then caught my first bream. Moved again up near the rocks, caught two whiting & two more bream. Bait was Blood worms & live nippers. That was enough. Headed for the Norah Head coffee shop for breakfast. Cheers.
  4. When I fish at Ben Buckler Bondi NSW I need a raincoat. I have to be so careful at this place because of the waves. It is just the way the rock ledges are. When I was a teenager, I wasn't allowed to fish there. Cheers.
  5. Great report. Top photos. Well done.

  7. I have owed two Stradic's. Never had a problem. These days I use Penn. The past 2 years their reels have got a lot better. ( IMO )
  8. School free day. End of their Holidays. Arrived around sunrise. Top morning. One of the easiest places to go rock fishing. First up a nice drummer ( Released ) The boys caught 2 tailor. I caught two nice snapper 45cm & 48cm. The boys caught 2 flathead & another tailor. They were happy. Enough for me for my return to the rocks. I tried out my new rod. Storm Gomoku 13ft. Casts very well. I had a Penn SpinfisherV 6000 reel on it. Good combo. Newport Arms for breakfast Lots of laughs. Cheers.
  9. Great report. Top photos.
  10. Hi All. Taking it easy. Rocks & Beach fishing can come later. Luderick & Bream were the go. Arrived after sunrise, bit on the cool side. Few people about. Forgot it was still school holidays. Very quiet. Caught 3 blackfish in over an hour. Size 32 to 34 cm. I think it may be too early for blackfish. But the burley seemed to work. Moved to south side of the channel near the bridge for some bream. Caught 2 nice bream around 34cm. Puppy was happy. Moved on the crowds were starting to arrive. Had two rods with me. Ugly Stik Carbon with a Kastking Magenta 3000reel. great set up. Wilson Magenta 8' rod for those who remember with a Daiwa Legalis 3000 reel. Bait was green weed & Aussie cooked prawns. Nice to be back fishing. Cheers.
  11. I take two rods wherever I go. On the rocks or the beach you need two. One for bait & one for lures. If you are interested in Samaki. The one to buy is the Samaki Zing Gen3 10'6'' 12-25 lb. Top rod. They also have a 12ft. Just makes life easier. Cheers.
  12. Mate. Have a look at the Penn Prevail 2 range. Great rods for the rocks. I have a 10ft rod. Penn slammer 4500hs. Top reel. I use both off the rocks. Good luck.
  13. Hi All. Got sick of my GP telling me I can't go fishing. Rang my Specialist earlier in the week. I saw her yesterday. All clear to go in a week's time. After that I decided to buy some new lures. I have heaps, but a few more will not matter. I ended up looking at surf rods. I picked up a Storm Gomoku 13ft 3pce 12-20kg rod. Nice rod. I have read some good reports on these rods. They have a Penn Prevail blank. Retail $209.00. I went home did some more research. 13ft would be great for the beach. These rods cast big lures. I don't need 12-20kg rating. But you never know. The rod weighs 12lbs. When I caught some Kingie's recently my 10ft 8-12kg rod struggled a bit. Found one on the Net for $170.00. Cheers.
  14. When I was very young I use to go to Watsons Bay in Sydney to see the shark weigh in every Sunday. It was a part of life in those days. Turned me off sharks forever. Never caught one & don't want to. I remember I was on holidays at Kierra Beach ( QLD ) riding my surfboard. 30 minutes later a fisherman caught a hammer head off the beach. Cheers.
  15. Top stories. Great photos.
  16. @mzaakir There are some wild rock places down here. I noticed some guys are using 14ft rods on the difficult spots. Cheers.
  17. @Nrgised Most of the guys down here have 12ft rods. Nothing less than 10ft. I always take two rods when I am rock or beach fishing. The most popular reel is a 5000. Cheers.
  18. I fish in NSW. Travel around to various places. I find a longer rod better than a shorter rod. Some of the places I go you need a longer rod. Apart from the rods I mentioned I have a 12ft 6-12kg which comes in handy sometimes. I mainly use it for beach fishing. Most of the guys here use braid. I use a good quality Mono line. 12,15, & 20lb. Never had a problem. Fishing is about fun, relaxation & experimenting with new gear. Cheers.
  19. Top story. Super photo. Can't beat catching Snapper.
  20. Welcome to the Forum. I do a lot of rock fishing. I have two rods I use. 10FT Penn Prevail 8-15kg. I use a 5000 spin reel. 11FT Dawia over there 110H. light weight rod & very strong. Top rod for spinning lures. I use a Penn Slammer 4500hs reel or a Penn Conflict 5000 reel. I also use various baits & circle hooks Cheers.
