  1. Hi, If you read my reports I go rock fishing once a week every where. I have three rock fishing rods & reels. Never let me down. Caught some big fish over the years. Dawia over there rod. ( 11ft ) Penn Prevail 2. 10 FT & 12 fT. Penn Conflict 6000 reel. Penn Clash 5000 Fin - Nor LT 100 Penn Slammer 4500HS. I only use top rated Mono line. Various baits & lures. Cheers.
  2. Hi, Don't know about the rod you are looking at. I have a Penn Prevail 2 surf rod. Top rod worth the look. I also use my 6000 Conflict reel on it. Cheers.
  3. @burger I grew up at the Newport Arms. There is know other place like it.
  4. Hi All. Last day of the holidays for these Teenagers. Decided to go some where different. God's country. Arrived around sunrise. just before low tide. Bonito on the bite straight away. A few tailor ( released ) I started with a drummer. That woke me up, spilt my coffee. After A good fight I let him go. The boys caught some nice bream. Around 33cm. I changed to bait. First snapper 47cm. We ended up with two snapper. Three bonito. Three bream. Good time. Lots of laughs. Bait was squid & various lures. Newport Arms for breakfast. Where else. Cheers.
  5. It is same down here on the Central Coast. Over the years the fishing has dropped off. That is why I move around. I can remember when I was a young guy, I would go prawning at the Entrance with my Dad & we would bring home the old sugar bags full of prawns. We would have so many prawns we would give them to the neighbours. Not anymore. At least when I go rock fishing I do catch something. Avoca rocks is the most popular place on the Coast. Sometimes it is like Surfers Paradise on a friday night. I don't go there much because of the crowds. If you want to get into the big fish in NSW, you have to head north to Crowdy head, Ballina & places like that. My ten cents worth. Cheers.
  6. Hi All. Met up with some old friends. Whiting & bream territory. Arrived early. Nice & quite. There were three of us. First bream 32cm. Puppy will be happy. After about three hours. I ended up with five whiting & two bream. The other guys caught about the same. Bait was Fresh worms, nippers & squid. I was hoping for a snapper. didn't happen. I had a new reel with me. Bought it on real special. Shimano stradic fl 5000. Not a shimano fan. But stradic's are ok. Newport Arms for breakfast. Where else. Top morning. Great to see the guys again.
  7. @mangajack It is the Hard Armour. I do a lot of rock & beach fishing. I seems to work better than most. But snags & rocks cause havoc with any leader. One thing that is a plus. No fish has bitten the leader off yet. Cheers.
  8. Hi, I I use Schnieder, I also use Tortue. Another good line is Pretest & Penn Super X. Lately been trying Platypus Hard Armour, jury is still ot on this one. Cheers.
  9. @Rick Ludd Trying to fish on the rocks & watching my two neighbours, is full on. But we catch fish & that's what it is all about. These two have been asking about Catherine Hill Bay. Not on my watch. To many deaths there. Cheers.
  10. Hi All. Overcast & grey morning. We didn't have our new recruit, so we headed for the rocks at sunrise. Calm water which was good. Started with a bonito. These fish like a fight. Tested my new Penn 6000 conflict reel. Works well. We ended up with 4 snapper 42 to 48cm. We let the bonito go. Caught 3 of them. Also caught 2 tailor ( released ) Bait was fresh squid & Metal lures. I had a new lure a Nomad Ridgeback 40g. Tailor seem to like them. Off to breakfast at the Norah Head coffee shop. Top morning. Lots of laughs. These teenagers are really into rock fishing, even if their Mother's do not approve. Cheers.
  11. Welcome to the Forum. Top lot of guys here. Cheers.
  12. Good luck. Happy fishing. Don't ride any scooters.
  13. Top report. Well done.
  14. @Peter K When I first started using lures, I got fed up changing my lure then have to put a new leader on. The snap clips I use are brilliant because they come in different sizes. They are not avaiable in Australia, but it is worth the wait & they are cheap & they work. Only buy Stainless. My ten cents worth. Cheers.
  15. I use clips all the time. Never have a problem. There is a swivel type clip on ebay in different sizes. Some are stainless steel. Worth a look. I have been using them for years on all Lures. Cheers
  16. Welcome to the forum. Great bunch of guys here. Another fisho from NSW. Look out QLD we are taking over.
  17. @burger You can't educate people. Doesn't matter how much you try. This guy was using the wrong bait. Just wouldn't listen. Cheers.
  18. Hi All, Arrived after sunrise. Place was quite considering the holidays. Majic day. Whiting & Bream were the go. Bit of rubbish to start with. I had two rods with me. Caught two bream on a sugarpen lure. That was interesting. Never seems to amaze me after all these years of fishing, what fish will go for. Switch to the whitng rod & fresh worms. Caught six whiting all in the 30's region. There was a guy watching me & he asked me how come you caught so many fish. He had been there an hour & caught nothing. Mate, you don't know me. I am the Fish whisperer. The stunned look on his face said it all. You got to have fun, even if is at somebody's else expense. That was enough. Off for coffee & a bacon & egg roll at the Norah head coffee shop. Top morning. Cheers.
