  1. Should not have got out o bed this morning. Rick picked me up at 4.20 am for an easy drive to NPD arriving at the gate at 5.20 with just time to prepare the boat before the 5.30 opening time. Quite a bit of floating salvinia and hyacinth in the ramp bay but it thinned out in koala straight but too thick for the trollers. We did out shrimp traps and the pots that were in under6 feet of water were full of dead shrimp probably due to the fresh. Going by a couple of reports from yesterday we were expecting a carpet of forkies but they were absent. Wen we returned to the ramp at midday most of the salvinia and hyacinth had dispersed except for one ramp that looked like it was going to devour a couple of floats. Cheers Ray
  2. Very slow day for me today. Did not boat a fish until after 11am after a 5.30am start and then I only boated 2 bass. I would have had a yella but I elected not to use the landing net ad the fish was only lipped so it was an auto release. Tai did better contributing to a final tally of 7 bass and 5 yellas and one lone spangled perch. At least we had good weather with no rain and the wind was not too bad. Been a while since Tai has been out with me and I really enjoyed his company plus the delicious salad for lunch. Skippy supervised us while we did the shrimp pots. Percy was conspicuous by his absence but around 30 of his mates were roosting on the ramp when Todd launched.
  3. They are too small to bother with and do not grow to much more than 20cm in local waters. Up north they grow a little larger. They have been introduced into local dams by hatcheries who did not have correct hygiene procedures and are considered a pest fish. They are a popular aquarium fish but are very agressive to other fish.
  4. If you bring bananas on my boat i will guarantee that you will not catch fish and have a quick trip back to ramp and possibly even a swim.
  5. Do we have to be vaccinated and wear masks? Also i have a couple of deckies who specialise on tandans and forkies
  6. 1000 gph in stern and same in bow. If fishing 4 up water collects in bow first otherwise with 2 up stern first and in stern under way. pumps also for quickly clearing boat when forget to screw in drain plugs.
  7. Went to western arm where the rain varied between torrential to a light drizzle. We put up the umbrella as soon as we launched and went straight to the tip of Ians island and tied up between 2 trees. The bass were hungry and willing but unfortunately so were the barred grunter. We ran out of bait and decided it was too dangerous to do the shrimp traps as the trees tend to drop branches when they are wet. We ended up back at the ramp at 10am with 58 bass and one tandan and the eagle enjoyed a feed of barred grunter. Had to run the bilge pump a few times to get rid of the rain water.
  8. Only pertains with the ulterra when it stows with the prop pointing to the sky instead of parallel to the water, You get a motor error message on the remote and you are unable to deploy the motor. There is a black button on the left hand rap that you press and hold and the ulterra thinks that the motor is stored correctly and then you deploy the motor and turn the power off and manually turn the motor 90 degrees and then turn power back on and quickly press the power button 3 times and the motor will reset itself and raise itself and then deploy and then stow itself in the correct position. NOTE THIS ONLY PERTAINS TO THE ULTERRAS .
  9. Quick trip back to ramp if you bring them on my boat.
  10. Could have fixed it immediatly if I had known how to just a reset. ( Not shown in manual) Not that I had read manual from start to finish.
  11. Slow day at NPD on sunday not only did the fish not play the game my ulterra went prop up so i went old school with no spot lock or go to feature. Just motoring around on the stern mount and having to anchor up when i found a school. The fish were hard to find and even harder to entice a bite. Only real success was slow trolling live shrimp around the drop off near fad 0. Total of only 10 fish for the day. Cheers Ray
  12. where were you camped did not think there would be many fish there as it is a while since dam spilled.
  13. Seeing that we found tandanus heaven yesterday please include them in species list.
  14. I had a very pleasant day as a decky at the western arm today. Neil drove me down to the Hinze and then took me to several spots to catch some fish and even took them off the hook when I caught a fish' . I did have to bait my own hooks after Neil passed a shrimp to me. I also sorted the shrimp as Neil pulled the shrimp pots. It was quite arduous having to return the glassies to the water and despatch the small barred grunter. The eagle had a feed of barred grunter whilst being hassled by a pair of willy wagtails who even had a rest by sitting on the eagles back in between attacking it. Most of the bass were caught on the tip of Ians island and of of the painted trees. The tandans were nearly as much a pain as the barred grunter with at one stage Neil catching 6 in a row. Final tally was32 bass.10 tandans and one metre eel. One of the bass and one tandan had tags in them. Cheers Ray
  15. Quite a bit more wind than we anticipated this morning. We went straight to the tip of Ians island and tied up between the usual 2 trees. There was not a thing showing on the sounder and not even a barred grunter nibbling the legs off our live shrimp. After around 10 minutes just when we were debating on moving Joy caught a small bass so we decided to stay for a bit longer. The fishing picked up but the barred grunter were destroying our bait and by8.30 we had around 30 bass but we were running out of shrimp so we moved upstream to some submerged trees where we increased the tally to 44 bass and one tandan, As normal the eagle was overseeing us and only ended up with one barred grunter for his effort.
  16. Bit over 50 for tandans in hinze caught bigger in mondy
  17. A dull day but successful day with not much rain 70 bass and one tandan. Pleasant surprise for me with a gift of a new reel from an appreciative decky. Most of the bass from the upstream point of Ians island and the isolated trees just upstream from there. Had the eagle stalking us all day and it was rewarded with several barred grunter plus a 36cm bass that did not release well.
  18. if you are talking about bowfishing in qld it is illegal in freshwater
