Hey wES, wHAT'S THAT LURE ? OR IS IT A HOME MADE ?
(excuse the bloody capslock)
Which lure mate? For the spotties i used a nomad madscad and a barambah baby perch modified to swimbait, or the school mack pic is a halco twisty

Couple drops of oil on top of light grease will do the trick.

I’ll have look I didn’t know they come with a spare drag washer in the box’s I’ll have a another look . Also There is only 1 drag washer in the 1000 size I looked up a tear down for the same model as mine
Shimano use to include a small oil tube and the small washers to adjust spool position for level line lay. I just checked my 1000 and seems to have all fitted. Maybe flip the top washer for a fresh surface. All ways good to clean this area and grease as it is exposed to sea air and sand.

Good reward for effort there @wesfish. I have done that trip a few times in a northerly in bigger boats than yours and it was not fun. I bet you were a bit damp by the time you got there. The photo of your tents shows that some previous camper ignored the fire ban. Is that a motion sensing camera on the tripod? Keeping an eye on the dingos sniffing around at night?
Cheers mate, lucky enough the wind had dropped but the swell was still there. That is my camp light on the tripod, lights up a good area dingos came through around 1:30am briefly, think they were licking my boat on low tide boat looked like a murder scene from the spotties

Gday,
Thought i would share a few pics of a recent mission to Wathumba in a 12ft tinny.
Weather was not perfect with a 1.5mtr NW swell making the trip up interesting, lucky the wind was dropping and changing to ESE. After 2 hours of motoring up at a comfortable pace , I was greeted with rollers at the mouth of the creek. Made my way in to set up camp and stretch the back out lol getting old. The wind had dropped out so i headed out for a few hours out the front of the creek. Did not take long to find bust ups and birds, spotties feeding lead to some crazy fun action. Boated 5 from 11 going flat out on them to get them past the sharks. Feeling exhausted and tired from 1 hour of sleep since the night before, i headed back to camp for some cold ones and sleep. Next morning i headed back while it was a glass out, knowing if i fished i would miss the window to cross back from moon to urangan. Wind was predicted to climb from lunch time. Great fun solo mission that i plan on doing again after the fires.

Cheers
They have been consistent all year round 2019/20. Some huge locals threadies have been caught recently by a few guys. 147cm on a gantia, 130cm sugarpen and heaps of mtr ones on poppers, vibes, bent minnows etc

Great report and great pics mate!! enjoyed the read in pic 8 at the end of the mat one maybe two of the trout must have come close to being under size? remember with a spear you can select before shooting, i would be shooting the bigger ones like you did and not risk shooting possible legals
