Hey guys,
I've been up north past Lockhart River since last Friday with a mate and doing a bit of fishing. Currently having a rest day after 4 long magical weather days out on the reef and in the cooking sun. 
Its been neap tides and hardly any flow so far (thus fishing has been a little slow for some species) but things are starting to move a bit more now and should be firing in a few days time for the next reef trip.

Day 1 on middle reef. Caught about 15 trout on the flats and 4 of the 7 species up here so far. All on Gobblers lures ripped past the shallow bommies. 


Day 2 on outer reef 50km offshore. Some bigger fish around and subsequent dustings. Lots of trout and co again. Nice bluefin trevally off the top. 
Amazing sights many sharks 
day 3 outer reef. Passionfruit trout and coronation trout. 
Day 4 Bligh Reef. Not many pics, but a stunning day! No wind all morning, it was HOT (Suffered heat stress later that day). Had a 100kg+ black marlin followed stickbait to the boat. Same with Wahoo. Caught 4 species of tuna so far (longtail, mac, skipjack, yellowfin) as well as 3 species of mackerel. Some big yellowfin 60km offshore but could only get small ones past the sharks.

Found a couple of schools that were OK and one that was not OK. Managed 77 bass,2 yellas and a heap of forkies.I pulled up over this school that looked good and the first thing up was a mongrel forkie, so I said i'll give it another chance and rebaited, then all 3 rods buckled over the side and up came a forkie on each one, well I quickly moved on from that spot.

Thought i would share a few pics of a recent mission to Wathumba in a 12ft tinny. 
Weather was not perfect with a 1.5mtr NW swell making the trip up interesting, lucky the wind was dropping and changing to ESE. After 2 hours of motoring up at a comfortable pace , I was greeted with rollers at the mouth of the creek.  Made my way in to set up camp and stretch the back out lol getting old. The wind had dropped out so i headed out for a few hours out the front of the creek. Did not take long to find bust ups and birds, spotties feeding lead to some crazy fun action. Boated 5 from 11 going flat out on them to get them past the sharks. Feeling exhausted and tired from 1 hour of sleep since the night before, i headed back to camp for some cold ones and sleep. Next morning i headed back while it was a glass out, knowing if i fished i would miss the window to cross back from moon to urangan. Wind was predicted to climb from lunch time. Great fun solo mission that i plan on doing again after the fires.

Are schools rewarding, blxxdy oath they are, when you can find them.First school I found was a bit bait shy only pulling the odd bass now and again. So I moved on and found a better school, these were hungry and stayed under the boat for quite awhile. It was a mixed school with small bass and now and then a good one, managed a 51 from the school, a eel tail catfish and the biggest eel I have seen at NPD it was as thick as the top of my leg, when I reached for the knife to cut the line it shook its head one more time and the hook and sinker went within a mozzie **** of hitting me in the head.Anyway managed 73 bass all up all on shrimp.
