ABU and Penn are all the same company, they are all under the main Parent Group Pure Fishing. Pure fishing is the following brand names. Penn, ABU, Stren, Owner, Shakespeare, Berkley, PFleuger, Fenwick, Fin-Nor, Van Staal, Mitchell. And many of the reels are actually the exact same model, just in different colours, stickers & spool designs etc. So do your homework when looking at new gear. Personally I only buy Daiwa reels, and have done so for over a decade, I find them the best quality and best value for money.

I have in the past four years swapped to doing this. I too find them good quality per $$.... Some good range cheap stuff for kids that lasts.. and some good high end stuff for me..

  2. we used to use it about 20 years ago for cattle. Grandad made his own line thread things to tie around posts and trees with a piece of garden hose with wire wrapped around it instead of paying for all the poles...

  3. Don't now Tingalpa very well. I am from Ipswich and only ever really ventured to Redcliffe/Scarborough boat ramp and head to Bribie Island. Apart from when I worked at Ormiston College I used to head down to Wellington pint for a flick after work sometimes. Fraser sounds like a plan. I would love to take the kids camping but they are 6&9 and dog mad. Dingoes and two kids in a tent hmmmmmm

Good luck mate, surely your application would have to be looked upon favourably.

Hopefully. I am applying for compassionate grounds with my kids to ex wife 6 & 9 grade 1 & 4 and fact I have been away for 4/5 years and my mum and dads health... Fingers and toes crossed. Been in Childers 3 years this year.

  5. Hey lads and lasses,

Good luck with this round! Game of the Round Broncos Vs Cowboys, Canberra Vs Knights... Tonight should be good to Storm Vs Rabbits!

Sorry lads for typo been a long week with mum in hospital with 3 strokes and three trips to Ipswich from Childers whilst continuing to teach every day at school...

  6. Welcome back too!

I'd try Ross creek and River. Surely around the marina you can get bread and butter fish like Bream, jacks and whiting maybe even small trevally. Black river and blue water creek. Just by looking at the maps. I have only been to the strand In Townsville so I have no idea where boat ramps are. But I would look on Google maps 3D and look for structure along banks of the rivers then work out how to get there in boat..

Broncos Vs Titans should be a great game Titans should play out of their skin and win this one. Panthers Vs Eagles will be another game to watch with the one man team threatening to win. Then I reckon Knights Vs Roosters if Ponga and Frisell have a good one..... and Dragons Vs Tigers should be a great game too! Good luck to all for the weekend! Great game tonight so far...
