  1. That is a nice repair job Wayne.
  2. I do the same mate. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy at night thinking that I am sponsored by ReelTackle
  3. Back to being a Gobblers Lures Sponsored Angler, your resignation did not last long, lol
  4. Congratulations Wayne, I am glad the deal finally worked out for you. As I mentioned the other week, let me know when you are ready to sell and I will do some promotions for you and try to help you move some products. Exciting times ahead mate.
  5. Here's a couple of pics that I forgot to upload. Thanks Robbie for dropping over and giving us a hand to clean the fish and also for taking away all of the frames afterwards.
  6. It is working for me Robbie ans was working yesterday as well.
  7. Find another portable tank and fuel line and run the motor off that. This will tell you if it is a fuel issue or electrical issue.
  8. This was an amazing trip with so many fish biting every where we went. Thanks Mark for another top trip, it was such a shame that no one else could make it up this time with us. Bring on the next trip.
  9. Those times will not effect us or most fishermen heading to the ramp.
  10. I have no intentions to put them in to full production Robbie although I did plan on building half a dozen for some close mates to help cover the initial costs and the R&D cost. I have people everywhere wanting them now and I had a shop from WA call me last night wanting 5 units straight away for their customers but I said no to him, lol The next one I build with be very different again internally and I may consider doing something with that one if I can get it working properly.
  11. I fitted the reel to the boat today and went out for a quick test run to make sure everything was working right before we head out and start dropping in 300m. The reel performed amazingly and certainly better than I thought it would so i am very happy with it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4uM9pVxvJ8&feature=youtu.be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvPRTrx9mNQ
  12. They look like old Stacer seats made back in the mid to late 80's. Maybe check out the Stacer website or send them an email and see if they have anything suitable these days that will fit.
  13. The frame has a 22mm solid rod coming off the bottom that you cannot see in the picture as it is inside the roll of bubble wrap. I am tied up this week, I have a bit of work happening and then either Fraser or 1770 this weekend, location will depend on the weather forecast later this week but tomorrow is a bay trip towing large paravanes to test the reel out.
  14. Thanks Kelvin. Its been a fun project and a real learning curve in electronics, lol
  15. Thanks Brian I will just work the line back and forth by hand like we do now on our other reels. Next step is going to try and design a level wind but at the moment that has me a bit stumped on how to do it. I can build one driven off the drive shaft but the level wind will keep driving regardless of what the spool is doing so ultimately i need to find a way to drive if from the spool rotation only. I do have an idea in my head but whether it can be built is another thing.
  16. Finally the reel is finished and ready for testing this week.Hopefully tomorrow or the next day we will get it set up on the boat and fill the spool with some line and shoot out into the bay and give it a good run with some large paravanes as they will exert a lot of pressure on the reel so I can make sure that the drag and everything else is working as expected.I cannot wait to use this beast as it has been a long time in the planning
  17. Moreton Bay and the beaches on Straddie have Bonefish. A guy fishing with us one day caught a large one at Boat Rock and about 2-3 years ago, a massive spawning aggregation was discovered at Heron Island. They can turn up anywhere in SEQ.
  18. I have no idea what those hard insulation thingos are that you speak of
  19. I used to use foam sheets to make the box and then glass over them. You can shape the foam any way you want and it is really easy to use. Just make sure you use a foam sheet that is suitable for resins.
  20. I am more scared that you might drive the boat like you drive a drone, lol
  21. Yes mate, It is hard to get good deckies these days, lol
  22. Every night is different Robbie, just depends on the wind and currents. Some nights we might drift 15 mile or more while other nights only a mile or 2. We usually work out where we want to fish the following morning and knowing what the currents are doing we will either drive up into the current for what ever distance we think will allow us to drift all night and end up somewhere around where we want to start fishing the next morning. If there is bugger all current we will just shut down the motors where we stop fishing for the day and drift from there. My last trip to 1770 the other week we drifted 20 mile for the night so the next morning we had a bit of a drive back to start fishing but the seas were good and it was a really quick trip back up to our grounds but it was far better than motoring 80km back into the reef and then 80km back out the next morning.
