  1. Pots under $1? No wonder you Boomers all own multiple houses! Showing my age here...back in uni days the cheapest we had $1.50 pots and $5 jugs of XXXX (regular prices were $2pots and $8 jugs). Only problem was that they were on Sunday night. 8am monday lectures never had anything interesting in them anyway
  2. I learnt alot from Youtube and Alan Tani's website for overhead reels https://alantani.com/index.php
  3. Alvey and Wilson are two of Australia’s iconic brands, it’s so great they are still going strong. i hope their latest gear is made in Australia rather than by overseas OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers). Either way it keeps food on the table of Aussie families. The old style live fibres had a big gold stamp saying ‘Aussie built’ but looking at the new ones they don’t have that. I know the Live fibre Venoms are built here in the Wilson factory but are twice the price. it must be hard to compete with big companies using OEMs. Let’s hope Alvey and Wilson stick it to them for years to come!
  4. Took Yewgary out off Wello this morning to try and kill a fish or two and baptise the boat in blood. Was a bit of a late start but the weather made up for it! A few slow drifts across broken reef saw the first fish for the boat, a small but legal estuary cod I got on a plastic prawn. After that my neighbour got a purple tusky on a dirty servo prawn and his daughters Kmart kombo. 2 fish in 2 mins then a whole lot of nothing! One winter whiting to finish off a successful first Bay trip. Here’s to the next few
  5. Actually Brian I was so excited to see what was in the pot the mud didn’t bother me! I bought this tinny to be used lots so a little mud was a nice way to christen it. woke up this morning feeling a little flat so I went to check on Yewgary to pick me up. Seems like he was feeling a little flat this morning too!
  6. Did some crab’n in the Logan In my new tinny this week. Soaked my neighbours 4 pots overnight near the prawn farms for 5 unders and a jenny. Used the Skinners park ramp which is pretty good but can get a bit muddy at low tide. Really happy with the boat and did all the off/on the trailer myself so I’m prepared for solo missions. Officially named the boat Yewgary with a naming ceremony but that is a story for another time and forum! we came across a funny looking stick that was swimming across the current so had a closer look and it turned out to be a very large brown coloured snake, possibly an eastern brown they are meant to swim a bit and had its head in the strike pose looking where it was going it was incredible! some pics of the beasts and a lucky/unlucky Jenny.
  7. Dropped Yewgary in the river for a quick squirt yesterday. Very impressed! Hit 50km/h with 2 overgrown men aboard. Definitely fast enough. Maiden voyage imminent! IMG_7088.MOV
  8. update: Picked up the new hull yesterday from Stones Corner Marine. Gunna call it YEWGARY (Eugarie) which is a combo of my trailer (EW) and boat (ARY) regos (For those fellow cricket fanatics also a play on Tim Paine's "Yeeeeaaaaahhhh Garrrrryyyyyy!!" commentary to Nathan Lyon's bowling ) . The Mrs was livid when she found out our 3 boys names were all cricket stars, and now she has a boat named by cricket too. Ha! Can't wait to see her face when my dogs turn up! A Great Dane called Haydos and Jack Russell called, well, Jack Russell! I love cricket. Got some trailer adjustments to do today then hopefully hit the water for a test run on the weekend. Very excited!
  9. Impersonating an officer is an offence. Report them to Fishwatch: https://www.daf.qld.gov.au/business-priorities/fisheries/monitoring-compliance/illegal-fishing-activities Illegal fishing activities Fishwatch hotline To report unlawful fishing in Queensland, call the 24-hour Fishwatch hotline on 1800 017 116 (toll free within Queensland) or by using this form.
  10. Thanks for thinking of me Bwian. All yours Wobbie
  11. More likely the larvae have travelled down the coast in the EAC and been funnelled into the bay. The bay is shallow and full of food so they grow like stink, fatten up and migrate north. Do get a lot of juveniles at the shallow reefs off the top of Moreton and sunny coast. Cool fish
  12. Curado sold. Pfleuger and dobyns remain.
  13. Prices dropped on others. Will knock a further $15 off for AFOers.
  14. Hi AFOers well my boat is a month away and I’ve got some funds to raise so I’m selling some more gear. All are advertised on gumtree. The rods I’d prefer to keep But have to go and a baitcaster setup my mate Wanted but changed his mind see links I will knock $15 off gumtree prices for AFOers https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/tarragindi/fishing/new-dobyns-fury-703sf-spin-rod/1253259522?utm_campaign=socialbuttons&utm_content=ios_sVIP&utm_medium=social&utm_source=com.apple.uikit.activity.copytopasteboard https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/tarragindi/fishing/new-shimano-curado-70i-xg/1253258775?utm_campaign=socialbuttons&utm_content=ios_sVIP&utm_medium=social&utm_source=com.apple.uikit.activity.copytopasteboard https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/tarragindi/fishing/new-pfleuger-lithium-baitcaster-3-6kg/1253259071?utm_campaign=socialbuttons&utm_content=ios_sVIP&utm_medium=social&utm_source=com.apple.uikit.activity.copytopasteboard https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/tarragindi/fishing/shimano-t-curve-deep-jig-200-overhead/1253259988?utm_campaign=socialbuttons&utm_content=ios_sVIP&utm_medium=social&utm_source=com.apple.uikit.activity.copytopasteboard andrew
  15. It prob takes them about 5 mins flat to build one Robbie but mine is due early September. 6-8 wk wait cos they are so busy due to covid orders
  16. Thanks Brian. It’s no Ellicatch but I’m excited to have the option. All my mates have big boats (And do biiiig days) so this fills the creek bashing/crabbing/estuary flicking hole in our arsenal. And also a learning experience for me too as I’m planning to do all my own servicing
  17. So I’ve sold a bunch of gear recently cos it wasn’t being used but also to help fund my next project... had a zodiac inflatable when I was a kid (still think I’m 16) and the trailer and outboard sitting idle under my brothers house. 1997 models! spoke to The blokes at Stones Corner Marine and now have a Sea Jay 3.85 Nomad HS on order! Being built at the factory in Bundy I should have it in the coming weeks. Very excited! A new tow bar for the rocknrolla, new hubs, bearings and wheels for the trailer, a new impeller and fuel filter for the outboard and i’ll be off in no time. yew!

  19. If it’s not legit then email Alan Hawk and get it put into his list of dodgy shops http://www.alanhawk.com/blog/zmb.html I am highly suspicious of a new Stradic for $90. I wouldn’t sell my 10 year old stradics for that! I would contact your bank and get the transaction cancelled mate.
