Sounds like an awesome session @Neil Stratford. You were dragging the chain by only getting 3 in 3 casts compared to your brother's effort.

For Tailor I make a cut under the gills to bleed and snap the necks (quick kill / stop more blood being pumped around) The neck snap is a cleaner (less bloody) way to maintain the eating qualities.

You are all good with the screws, did the same and used sikaflex Only other thing to watch out for: The newer model supposedly draws a Max Amp of 50 and recommends a 60AMP fuse, but i'd just see how it goes with your existing inline 50amp fuse

Glad to see you have found your betting sweetspot @Angry51 certainly there is a point where betting makes the sport fun/exciting to watch and you are riding every moment / every call versus becoming a nervous wreck that you can't watch and enjoy the sport

I'm usually looking to drop the lure on or just in front of the sandbar length to target the predator fish trolling this front channel for dazed bait fish that have come over the sandbar into the front deeper channel. If i can find where the sandbar breaks and where water is retreating (the rip) then i'm trying to land as far a cast as as I can and ripping the lure through this area.

It's the first cast and the promise of more fish that always gets you

Could be completely old wives tale but I remember reading on a forum / fb somewhere that going to Stainless Prop for motors under ~140hp would was marginal performance improvement (from reduced flex), unless you were also changing the prop pitch / diameter. Long story short the consensus advice was to wait until the aluminium prop was damaged before putting money into a new prop. No incidents yet on my prop (which is a good thing) so I'm still on my original aluminium prop.

What’s your top end speed on ellicatch and at what rpm? Is it aluminium or stainless? Is there still further room to move up in the rev range so u can get both take off and still have access to the top speed (albeit at higher revs) with a new prop

The response to one of my work mates for when he mentions benefits to his wife “unless it benefits me I don’t see how it’s a benefit“ tongue and cheek of course For me, I just own up to it and say to the misuse, “just think of all the other addictions out there I could be hooked on, fishing surely is saintly other things considered”

Which direction was the sun if there was any, i've heard this is also a factor when creating silhouettes in the water with the lure (can't remember if it is into or away from the sun that is recommended) So Paravane was more effective than the Qantas lure I assume?

100% agree once the basics are sorted out, its less time troubleshooting / figuring things out and more time with a line in the water and a chance of catching fish.

Raiders have Knights, Sea Eagles, Tigers which will all be very winnable putting them on 30 points. This means the Broncs as your prediction must win 1 of there last 3 games to also be on 30 points and pip the raiders on f/a Going to be good watch in the last few rounds

Well that sounds more like it for 3 years. What would you say is the longer term per annum operating cost once you take out the obligatory upgrades / fixes from the first few years. That is assuming you have no more large upgrades planned (If that's even possible with a boat)

Looks the goods @leeroy1. Definitely would agree with you on going a second battery for electric. Do you have a mounting spot for the battery? Did you use the screws that came with the heading sensor? Just got to make sure you don't cause magnetic interference with your own screws

I'm worried about the Raiders creeping into the 8. They have a good home run. Broncos have Storm and Eels will be tough (although at home), Dragons on Ben Hunt's day can beat the Broncos.

Is that your total to date insurance or annual? The price of my insurance for boat / trailer / accessories is considerably less.

Can't go wrong with a small electronic checklist. I use one for camping / fishing / 4wd cause there is always something you forget to bring / do before a trip. This helps me greatly when its an early start and the brain hasn't quite boot up. I've forgotten everything from tackle bags, rods, bait you name it but once a got the checklist going this stop me forgetting a lot of things

Save a bit of money and get a chartplotter / sounder would be a good starting point if you don't have anyone showing you around. If you have bit more coin - something with structure scan would be ideal to find / explore new ground.

How to Catch Yellowfin Whiting at Shorncliffe Pier.
Hweebe replied to Daryl McPhee's topic in Saltwater
Thanks for sharing @Daryl McPhee interesting that you suggest heading to the shallow water before the hut and not head strait to deep water like most people tend to do there. That was some gun bait you collected. Would be cool if you did a video on the bait collection before the fishing with some tips and tricks as well . You will be getting the subscribers on the youtube in no time- 4 replies

Cool stuff Andrew. Agree with you sustainable commercial fishing has its place and supply chains bring jobs and economic growth to communities . Just wouldn't mind areas for commercial netting and recreational fishing to not overlap. Yes I am biased I know that. Liken this to the rec fisho bringing a knife to a gun fight. Things like stopping commercial netting in the Fitzroy river, have hugely improve rec fishing for Barra right in the city centre for my Rocky friends How good that they can cast a lure for 1m Barra during their office lunch break.
