I only noticed that ramp a few weeks ago, I launched from the end of Coleman road, you can fish some good mangroves and head back into the Coomera that way.  Yet to land a jack but I know they're in there!

Alex W, like most of the guys from brissie fish the eastern side of the highway from the Coomera boat ramp. Drew M also has a few videos from that area, search for his Coomera videos on YouTube.
Watch as many of John Costello's videos as you can. He's MyLureBox on YouTube, he gives you every bit of information you'll need and seems to enjoy teaching people how to catch them as much as he likes catching them. He does a bit of pontoon bashing around Broadbeach but a lot of his fishing is creek's around tweed and Currumbin. He has DVD's full of info and hundreds of hours of YouTube.
Early Timmy Turtle videos are awesome too, when he first started on his pipe skiff he was learning from scratch, you can watch all his mistakes and what he learnt along the way.
I've been heaps and yet to catch one, they aren't something you should expect to catch every session. I don't think any canal is rubbish, they seem to be in good numbers everywhere, you just have to throw what they want, where they want it and probably hold your tongue just right.

They do exist! A genuine SEQ barramundi. Caught today on a gulp 4” drop shot minnow in watermelon pearl. Not quite the legal size of 58cm and closed season so released for another time. Only other notable catch for the morning was one good flathead at 64.5cm.

all in all a good morning on the yak - save for a broken rod and a red bellied black trying to join me on the kayak!

    cheers,
    benno <‘><

If you're ever on the Gold Coast, Arundel bait and tackle sell them frozen. At least then you don't have to deal with the horrible spawns of Satan on the end of your line.
