Well, maybe not, but getting out of the bottom 4 seems more likely now.

I had two great days on the water, Friday and Saturday.

    Friday
put the boat in at 5:15am and headed to one of the Beacons to get some live bait. The plan was to head up to Bulwer for the hope of a few tailor and a couple of Mackerel!
I ended up spending to much time chasing bait for some reason.
Then headed to Bulwer and threw the baits out. Caught a school mackerel on a pilchard, other than that it was quiet. I should of been there 45min earlier I reckon.
I then caught a few small squid for bait and spent a couple of hours looking for some spots. I’ve never been to mud island before so had a sound around and caught a few baby snapper.

Was great conditions and would of liked another mackerel, but found a few interesting spots on the sounder.

    Saturday
Took my two boys and Dad out for the day, was more of a boating day than a fishing day.
the boys had fun catching livies to start the day. They then lost patience once they scooped out the first lot of livies to set the lines. So we then mixed up fishing with site seeing, dune climbing, nature watching.
We saw two dugongs which the boys enjoyed.

Two days in a row on the water is something I rarely get to do.

Thanks for the heads up on what was biting!

Magic conditions and tops to get two days in a row. Throw in some fish and you're definitely a winner. Hoping to achieve the same myself later this week.

Got one 🙂 they can be a tricky fish to target, especially when they only eat tiny stuff. But they'll take a 30cm slimey 🤷‍♂️

    Hi Fellow Fishers,
Im taking an RDO tomorrow and will put the boat in at Shorncliffe tomorrow. For the first time in a few months.

im out of touch on what’s biting at the moment.

Thinking of heading over to Moreton and throw a few pillows around early then maybe chase some whiting.

Open to any suggestions on what to chase this time of year?

    cheers

Couple of Mackerel in the esky with a few tasty tailor for saturday breakfast. The. Get home ready for the mighty Broncos to get the two points!

    Let’s see how close I get 😂

Also, if you're interested in chasing tailor, there were plenty around the bottom end of Bribie last week.

Thanks @ellicat, Mackerel are one of my favourite things to chase. But I’ve only had a boat to handle Moreton bay for a couple of years & didn’t realise they hang around on Winter.
Will see if I can find a couple!

I’d stay far away from these reels many people like Alan hawk tackle advisors and many regular fishos don’t have anything nice to say about these reels . Most of these reels are made out of cheap weak parts . ATM for spinning reels the most reliable brands are daiwa Shimano penn not in any order there are a few good spin reels outside these brands such as  1 or a few by okuma fin nor ATC and other brands but for the most part the top 3 daiwa Shimano penn are the most reliable and best value for money when it comes to spin reels . As for a bait runner I’d have a look at the okuma ceymar and see if they are any decent if they aren’t decent you’ll most likely have to buy a shimano if you want a reel that will preform well and last
