That's a modern interpretation of a hand line... Careful you don't end up with a dislocated finger too from a sticky drag...

Great stuff

Good to see you are back at it

Sounds like some good fishing was had

Good job. I got one a few years back that only just busted the 40 mark on a very small live mullet Under a float in about the same depth. Well done.

@benno573 is that a spotted grunter? It's a cracker regardless
-
That's a cracker bream. I had to do a double take and check I wasn't imagining things... Live bait?
-
Ended up fishing lighter and got the attention and the result in the end I would be feeling chuffed to post that success. The feed of grassies on top... You will be popular on the home front. Great job. I did say to @Kat "I bet your glad you left that one for Brian" .

I always found that live bait tends to sift out some smaller stuff. All the others that have made points have made valid points. The only other things that I could add is go fishing whenever you can and/or feel like it. Keep a record of things. @AUS-BNE-FISHO has been diligent with this with better tools than I had when I was his age.

Invicta hybrid lithium batteries, any tried one?
Bretto77 replied to Bob9863's topic in Non-Fishing Chat
The fire issue (although generally statistically low) concerns me with lithium batteries. I don't think I would like to be sitting on top of one in an enclosed space if something went wrong. I would keep any batteries under bonnet or somehow external. That said I drove a 95 model sierra for years when I was young. Bought it brand new and it never let me down. Wow, the places that you can get one of those things. Suzuki will have improved on that now because they don't do crap. I trust you will be impressed with the reliability and the places that you can get to in the jimny -
Have a great and safe weekend everyone

I have a science background that is blended with hands on, and I come from a family of teachers. I have not read old mate's entire report, only the bits that were reported in the article above. That means my understanding of his report is limited. @mangajack, @Junky and @Bob9863 all make valid considerations and points. I straight away question limits, definitions and parameters of the study (for which i would need to read the complete report). Don't get me wrong, I am all for supporting and maintaining aquatic systems for the future. It does seem these days however like it's a little too easy for actual science to be overrun by funded political agenda, which is sad and ultimately disfunctional.

I like to overlay the real time wind recording over the predicted. To get a glimpse of how close on average the recent forecast has been. It is worth considering however that if the actual readings are not taken very close to the forecast location things can be very different. For example in my experience the willy weather forecast for paradise point has been relatively accurate in the past but when you overlay the real time wind (taken at gc seaway) things look different. So to get an idea of how accurate the recent forecast has been you have to look at gc seaway forecast. In this case I reckon inner beacon is on average just a fraction higher (overall average) than the Tangalooma forecast. Looks like you have a window there. You're not in a 3m tinny. Go early. The team north leaderboard is calling

Curious About Trout's Diet: Do They Really Eat Frogs?
Bretto77 replied to breribriar's topic in Freshwater
I have seen a snake headed gudgeon eat a gecko off the top of an aquarium. Was swimming around with the head still sticking out of it's mouth for a good six hours before it actually swallowed the whole thing. -
Curious About Trout's Diet: Do They Really Eat Frogs?
Bretto77 replied to breribriar's topic in Freshwater
I don't know much about trout but I would of thought that small frogs would be instinctually recognized as food by most fish. -
Wednesday was actually pretty good (late morning to 8pm anyway) down around macleay
