I'd drive the length of the Bribie East coast, about a nautical mile or two out. You will likely come across tuna, so have a couple of rods rigged with slugs to throw at them. While you're moving north watch your sounder and you will likely come across sections of coffee rock and/or sharp depth changes with obvious reef on the floor. Try them for a bit of bottom bashing. You may be lucky enough to see some other anchored boats about, that will give you the clue to investigate the bottom nearby.
Eventually you will come to the Blinker at Caloundra. Again, there will likely be other boats testing their luck. There is plenty of ground here to suss out. Some days are better than others here. I've had great days with snapper, grassies, Venus tuskfish, cod, and other reefies. Other days it has been very quiet. Never a guarantee.
The whole trip will take at least an hour each way (@ 20 knots) plus time to chase tuna on your way.
If you take the view that it is an explore day, with a bit of fishing thrown in, it should make future trips better for you.
Late thought - take a Sabiki bait jig with you, as often there are livies hanging around the reef areas. If you find some, drop the jig down, catch some, and then fish there using livies. If you don't find livies, use cuttlefish heads for bait.

That is the biggest bream I've seen posted on AFO in the 18 years I've been on here.

Well, I could not find any live bait so had to rely on cuttlefish to do the trick. Managed 4 grassies 32 to 40cm. Due to some snags, I was down two rods/rigs after I got sick of retying leaders. I went to my flathead outfit with 10lb braid on a 2500 reel.
Deployed that a few times with a lazy 2 ball sinker on top of a 5/0 circle, before I got the surprise. When it hit it ran and ran. I was down to my backing and it was fast approaching terminal status when it slowed and was able to get some line back. A big "Phew" when braid started winding around the spool. Tense moments.
I was confident it was a good snap from the start, and had confirmation as it got close with the bait way up the line. Then I saw the shine in the water and a couple of minutes later it was on the surface. Managed to net him without any trouble, which was what I was fearing.
Proud to have knocked the master @Allnighter out of first place in the comp. haha Like you said @Bretto77, I expect to be knocked out of that position soon enough.

A couple of high quality, productive sessions, Wazza.
I believe the technicality call on the grinner is fair. haha

Bummer about the lack of action.
Today, we had plenty of action but snip offs and bust offs and pulled hooks were the order of the day. We managed several Bonito and a grassie and some grinners. Then the sea toads and sharks saw us pulling up stumps early and giving Green a go. Sharks here were swimming around the boat and we hooked a few before going in shallow to jig unsuccessfully for squid. So you didn't miss much while you were away.
Have fun in Melbourne. Going to the casino ? haha

Good session and spot on time, @Neil Stratford.
I went out to the Rous with @Old Scaley today. We were menaced by sharks and toads all day. We moved to Green and got menaced by sharks again. They all busted off boatside. Thankfully you were at least able to put some on the board.

Evening,
I know it won't change the results, I've been wrong slated as one of *those* southside.
Team North all the way!!
Oops, sorry Ross.
Force of habit typing "SOUTH". haha
I also stuffed up the scoring, that I have now fixed.
@Ross.warwick Remember for April you need a pic of the fish on a measuring device with your hand giving a thumbs up.

Nice looking reel. What are you going to put on it ?
I'm still in a tackle ban phase, but I will keep these Japanese stores in mind when I re-emerge.
