why would it need to be a mini bar? why limit yourself so? how about a full size bar instead? it would be like @ellicat buying a fun size cherry ripe - it's just silly. Owing to an imminent significant change on the home front, it will be incredibly unlikely I will be available to attend any gathering this year.
  3. Is this the start of a joke…? have seen how much water is flowing out via young’s crossing the last two mornings on the way to work, hope the turbidity improves soon so you can either catch some fish or plant out a fresh summer crop, preferably the first one.
  4. Nice one mate, love smoked fish!
  5. i ticked other for crabbing which is kind of different i guess?
  6. Been enjoying your reports mate, hope to see some Redfin captures soon!
  7. i don't think that green zone includes fishing off the beach... by the looks of it there will be a conservation zone along the beach and the actual no fishing zone will be offshore. only actual no beach fishing zone appears to be just north of ngala. interesting they are looking to shut out a big section of double island point headland and surrounds though. doesn't include my favourite rock so that is good.
  8. that is a striped scat - handle with extreme care, the spikes along the top are venomous.
  9. and how many points did you contribute for team south last year....?
  10. hey mate. i parked near the boat ramp but not in the car park area. i put it on the street in a "reasonable" looking area under a street light and it was all still there when i got back.
  11. hey mate, have done this trip myself on the yak. we were in one of the spots closest to the i guess south eastern / bridge end and they were fine. Just dirt sites but shady and the one we were in had a picnic table as well which was super handy given camp chairs on a kayak are difficult. Would recommend mozzie coils as a must and plenty of 40% deet. Try and arrive at higher tide for ease of unload as there is a bit of mud on a low tide. take plenty of drinking water as none available. there is a cold shower which was ok, other than cold.
  12. I wouldn’t feel bad about it not releasing, I personally would have released it straight into my esky… @ellicat I don’t know that @Cavvy was deeply concerned about sustainability, my guess would be he was more exasperated that he AGAIN had to rush off with an esky to bring a fish home… on the plus side 3kg of fish @ $40/kg… it’s not the worst result…. That’s how I justify it anyway! @AUS-BNE-FISHO - might be time to invest in a folding esky, fish bag or similar to be deployed in such situations? Would help you get the fish chilled down quicker and increase the eating quality.
  13. I just fish when I can. At this particular phase of my life, I don’t have the option to pick and chose unfortunately. If you catch nothing, look at the moon phase, wind, tide, barometric pressure etc from the day and blame one of them for a poor return…

    A Big MILF

hmmm... not sure i'd put them on a par with tuskie but i certainly agree they are underrated as a food fish when looked after correctly from capture. flounder are always welcome in my esky, especially if they are big enough to be filleted.
  15. you really do have too much time on your hands mate... some questions... biggest fish (excl wobby) landed for the year on the boat? best box (not a euphemism)? most memorable capture/s of the year? any lowlights? targets for the rest of the year into next year?
  16. looks awesome mate. some great photos in there and good feeds for the cmap too. hope the recovery on the nav wasn't too hard. Need to have a proper crack at fraser one year soon... if only i didn't love going to moreton so much...
  17. Looks interesting mate. I’m not disappointed in myself that I couldn’t pick from the other photos! is that a complete build from hull up? Or did you fit out an existing hull? Either way mate, awesome job!!
  18. looks nice to just be out there mate. what boat are you running these days mate?
  19. Cracker arvo and a great feed to boot. Just out of interest, what depth of water do you class as very shallow?

    Quickie

Nice one mate. You are getting so consistent with the wobbys now, little more practice and you’ll get there. If only you could stop wasting those prime baits on those pesky red fish…
  21. Certainly are. Bled and fresh they are delicious.
