    Spot On

Nice work fellas - glad you landed the spottie @Old Scaley, I was a bit nervous when you leant the rod against the gunwhales, thought it might do one last run and take your rod with it ....... Good to see you both doing well - not jealous at all .......
  2. Nice work on the tusky Brian, didn't realise they'd go that hard at that size. Well done - now to set your sights on a big one .
  3. Nice sounder shot and well done getting two past the taxman.
  4. Good day out, just a shame the fish weren't more plentiful. Interesting that the ramp was very busy on a weekday (although I'd suspect Friday's are a bit more busier than other weekdays @Old Scaley?).
  5. Short term pain, long term gain hopefully Ray. Good to hear you'll be back on the water soon. Just be careful around that wife of yours (or be careful with your insertions of humour ........) .
  6. Yep, that's a great piscatorial start to the new year @ellicat. And yes, a threadie now would be great - have you caught a legal one before? I've never caught one .
  7. Turn the lights off ......... . Congrats on your first legal jewie mate, well done! I've caught two that were both right on 75cm so you're now ahead of me. Been numerous years since I've caught one so perhaps I need to start doing some river sessions again.
  8. Great session @Dinodadog, worth the wet conditions. Back in the good books yet .......?
  9. I think the ones you are looking at are on the right track. I bought a second hand (2003 model) Fisher centre console which is very similar. Mine is 500 with a 60cm extended transom (so 560 overall). Definitely get a plate aluminium boat (instead of a pressed aluminium hull) - you’ll get a better ride. If you have the budget for a brand new AMM (is similar) you’ll end up very nicely set up . I haven’t been in one but meant to be very well built. A centre console will give you the versatility you are after - add a T-Top and you’ll have some shade - depending on the age of your kids you can look at options to extend the shade all the way to the transom and may also be able to erect an umbrella at the bow if needed. You should be able to get a T-Top that folds down when towing and also if needed for storing in a shed, etc (I’ll be looking at this soon - currently have a large canopy but is slightly too high to fit into the shed at our new house). You can also look at getting clears to go around the centre console/T-Top (including the sides) to give more protection from copping spray over the side. With three kids, if they are all going to fish (and are likely to into the future) I’d be going a minimum of 520 and maybe 570/575 - only problem as they get bigger their getting heavier to tow to places like Cape York (we’re going this June - yay . No boat this time though ). Good luck - show us what you end up with and what trips you do in it, we love boat porn . Have added a couple of pics of mine in action for inspiration - will try to remember to add more tomorrow from my computer.
  10. Are you requesting a DRS Benno ….
  11. So, just keep on doing what we've already been doing then ....... or have I misinterpreted ?
  12. Memorable catch there @benno573, well done!! Nice flattie too - good day out apart from the broken rod .
  13. Very, very well written report and good to see a few desirable fish caught in amongst the rays and pony fish. Looking forward to the next report .
  14. Cracking session there Dino. When I saw the title I thought perhaps you’d been crazy enough to walk the bank in yesterday’s heat …
  15. Definitely better returned to be caught again (and I'm no catch n release only type of guy ). We caught a couple when I was about 12 or so in Connors River west of Mackay and not knowing any better, we cooked them up. Tasted like mud (no doubt this was at least partially due to the water they were living in) and had a million large bones. Sidenote - we caught them both on dusk in a canoe and my youngest brother almost flipped us out of it when the first one was brought over the side - in the low light he was convinced it was a snake!!!!
  16. Hey @Jono4500, I think he just called you a 'tool' ....... . Cracking toga BTW, especially for your first and on that gear, fantastic!!!
  17. Same to you Hamish - hope you get the presents you’re hoping for .
  18. Yep another great year, cheers Brian (and @Angus ). Have a great Xmas all.
  19. Another great session, nice consistent honey hole you have there. Nice fat yellas . Enjoy eating them .
  20. Glad no ribs were broken - nice session despite the tumble .
  21. Now that’s a day to remember - you should have a few drinks more often …
  22. Great work Ray - productive day all round .
  23. Great session mate, some crackers there
