  1. So you bought a different car, but are also getting the Navara back in June. What is the new/different car and which one (or both) are you keeping in June? (Sorry, not trying to sound like your wife ..... ).
  2. I saw you so yelled at the kids louder (than normal) to ease my internal anger ....... .
  3. Cracking fish and session Wazza, particularly after the disappointing start. Shame the sharks got two of them but glad you got the big one in through some clever thinking/strategy. Nice work!!

    Boat

Some great advice here. 4.7m is a good versatile length - like @mangajack I'd be interested to know what hull it is. Also, what size motor are you putting on it? Be careful around the Brisbane River mouth, particularly on an outgoing tide if it is against the wind, as it can get real hairy. I'm not sure what boating experience you have but if you're a new boatie or relatively inexperienced I'd be conservative at first. Also, in the bay, factor in the wind direction versus tide direction as this will have a big impact on your ride experience (which impacts both safety and how wet you get in an open boat). Put some pics up once you have it .
  5. Yep, looks like a mould and not the actual fish. Plus he looks far too comfortable holding it ..... a 22kg fish would take a lot of holding (I would imagine ........ ). Cracking fish - I would get it taxidermied too.
  6. Great haul there fellas and magic conditions to cap it off, not envious at all ........ >
  7. Great perseverance there Bob, got the rewards .
  8. Congrats on the longie mate, they're great fun to catch and sounds like you've worked out a trick to hook them . Beautiful time of the year to be camping and fishing over there. Do you mind if I ask where you camped and what mooring the boat was like - does the tide go out far?
  9. In my defence, I have tried to let you get a lead on me, it's just not real easy when you don't exactly help at your end ....... .
  10. Brian, to be fair, you can't even recall what trolling boards you're currently using .......... . Welcome back Andrew, if memory serves me correctly, at one point you were having a run of success on the river jewies (Clara's Rock area?)? Good luck with your shallow water pursuits - I reckon with stealth there are lots of potentially productive spots near shore that are overlooked by those with larger boats, me included.
  11. I was reading about these the other day, probably on FB, that there appears to be two different batches of them. Talk was that the ones available at Mr Bait and also Watertower Bait & Tackle swim well, whereas others are rubbish. Not sure it it's true or not.
  12. Now now, there was no need to dig up my inglorious past ......... I'm a changed man ......... A bit like NSW in Origin - one in a row .......... . Cheers Benno, was great to be able to do it with the kids and my dad, great memories. Just wish all sessions were like that, or even half as good.
  13. Nice yella Bob, that's how to maximise a small weather window .
  14. You should go fishing out west where they need the rain ......
  15. Nice work Ray, glad the forecast held true for you and you got onto a heap of fish, success
  16. Great write up Hamish and congrats on the big muddie and cod. When reading the part about the cod capture I was thinking I'd reply with 'there you go, don't need a crab pot' but turned out you did to land it ...... (and the cod) . My brother got a heap of good prawns at the harbour about a week ago just off the jetty - might be worth checking it if you're there a similar time of the year again.
  17. I just had a quick look at Ugly Stik's for you Hamish as another option. Two look like options - the BW2040S802 (8ft, 20-40lb, up to 4 ounce casting) or BWSF1530S902 (9ft, 15-30lb, up to 5 ounce casting). This website has all the specs (further below) - I think it only sells/delivers to the US but I'm sure you'd find them in Australia (will leave that to you ). https://www.purefishing.com/bigwater-spinning-rod-1292633?variant=1539234 Out of interest, what's your planned use for it? Sharks?
  18. Good to see you back on the water Ray. Maybe the schools that hang around the floats are more scared of you then Dino ...... .
  19. Heading up in June Ted getting VERY excited . Decided rather than add things to my Pajero to instead upgrade to a Prado that has all/most necessary things (lift kit, snorkel, dual batteries mainly) already - in a bit of a rush but hopefully will find/have it in next couple of weeks. Assuming you'd need a reasonably light rod and line to flick the lures necessary to catch them? Just going to have to see how much room we have when we pack.
  20. Nice variety there Hamish despite the lack of side overall. Your mates gotta be happy with a 45cm tailor
