  1. Sensational report Lance - well done to Stu and yourself for pulling off such a complicated and yet ultimately rewarding trip. Beautiful part of the world.
  2. Same as the dinosaur above me .......... (and I don't know what table, grid or fluid means either ........).
  3. Well now that you've mentioned it, lift your bl00dy game you slacko!!!!!!!
  4. I think also from memory Lance, some of the half-wits couldn't work out that the report and pictures of the big boat that went to sea for days, caught a bucketload of fish and had an esky the size of a small car, was, a report of, shock horror, a commercial fishing trip ........... they must have been real intelligent ..........
  5. Forgot to say I think the 'cooking our catch' part is something we could all try to include more of. I know I'm lazy with how I cook my fish and would like to branch out a bit - now if I could just catch it more often ..........
  6. Hi my name's Kelvin and I'm an AFO addict ........... I read reports for a variety of reasons - preferably I like to learn something (rough location, techniques, baits used, seasonal info) but I also enjoy hearing the tale (so much interesting stuff can happen on a 'typical' few hours on the water that isn't just what we caught), hearing some banter and having a good laugh. I try to read most reports but when I'm busy with work I'll choose the ones that I can most relate to. I try to reply when I can but if I'm in a hurry I'll use the 'Reactions'. I sometimes don't have time to watch videos (or it interrupts my/our TV viewing as I try to do two things at once ....) and then forget to go back to them. An example were some of @Luvits videos - I knew they'd be good, but kept putting them off, until I finally had a day off work all to myself and caught up. And boy were they good!!!! I'd encourage people to try to reply to posts as much as you can as it will encourage the creators to do more. You can also use this reply process to try to glean more info too - obviously it's up to the writer how much info they want to give up. As much as I'd love everyone on this site to give me their best GPS marks, I know this isn't going to happen and am content to put the info and clues together and bit by bit work things out myself.
  7. Thanks for the effort in trying to get a date to work Brian, much appreciated. I'll take a closer look at our (rapidly disappearing) free weekends this weekend and report back. Your other idea about a one day meet & greet would also be great, and might be easier for many to attend (I still think we will probably make a whole weekend work, we'll just need to all chip in dates and find a best fit). I haven't been on the beach at Bribie but given it's location, I'd imagine it would probably be a good fit for a one day meet & greet. We could cook some snags, have a beers, fish for whiting/dart and depending on who was coming and their level of experience at beach driving, a couple of 'experts' could maybe run through the basics of getting out of bogs, etc.
  8. Won't be able to make it unfortunately fellas. Turned the page on the calendar this morning and noticed that my wife had been busy ........ two social engagements that I didn't know about ...... Have a couple of the free beers and rums for me that Brian is putting on ..........
  9. Beer and rum ......... ? I'll have a think and let you know Brian - nursing a nerve/muscle issue in my shoulder ATM so see how I get through work this week.
  10. I'm a maybe too, depending dates and whether Liam's soccer has started (haven't worked that out yet). Will monitor the chat on here and let you know once I know
  11. I put in the ones I 'normally' do so excluded off the rocks landbased and boat/impoundment as they are very far from frequent. Would like to add kayak/bay this year. Oh and somehow you have not included my favourite fishing location amongst the choices ......... in my dreams .....
  12. I've got a few like this and got an idea from some new ones I bought a while back - they came with very light string securing the other ends to the pot/netting. So I did the same using VB cord. If I remember I'll take a photo and put it up - easier than explaining it
  13. Wall mounted hooks work Rob if you have a spot on a wall for them. Bunnings have a few different options. In the boat I use occie straps to store them vertically against the inside of the boat so they don't take up floor space.
  14. Great resource @Doyley - thanks for putting it up.
  15. Brad, Brad, Brad, Brad, Brad ...... your idea sounds much too much like commonsense ....... no wonder you don't work for the government ........
  16. Just had a quick look on Nuggets site and he sent an email to those in charge and it is as I"ve stated above - you can take green prawns, crabs, worms, etc home if you live within the containment zone. It's only if you're taking them out of this zone that you need to cook them. Not good news for wormers that export their live worms interstate, poor bu99ers!! Really feel they should get compensation from someone, but then it's a matter of who.
  17. Gad can I ask where this came from? If it's from the March 3 update then my interpretation is that it is obsolete and has been replaced by the current update. The key, in my interpretation, is in the wording. In the latest update they don't refer to the 'high tide mark' but are instead speaking of movement of the prawns, etc within 'the area' as in the whole containment zone from the ocean to inland. In other words they are admitting that the disease has spread 'within' the containment zone and they are focusing on not letting it spread 'out' of the containment zone. Therefore I believe you can take them home and cook them if you live within the containment zone. See below: “To ensure that fishing and the local trade in fresh Moreton Bay seafood can continue, the movement control area will also encompass the western borders of the Gold Coast City Council, Brisbane City Council, and Moreton Bay Regional Councils. “Fishing, crabbing and catching prawns can continue in Moreton Bay and catchments covered by the order, including the Logan and Albert Rivers, but people will not be able to move uncooked crustaceans such as crabs, prawns, yabbies, Moreton Bay bugs or marine worms, which can carry the disease, out of the area. “People wishing to move these products out of the area whether for their own consumption or to sell in other markets, will have to cook them first.
  18. Almost certain @ONTHECHEW's boat was a 5.5m Galeforce Terry. @Angus or @Do$tylz - any idea and have you been in it? From memory he was going to or did sell it?
  19. Good news for the prawn farmers, very good news. No mention about the Logan River however ..... ??
  20. Is it just me or do you get the feeling the government is laying a path to BLAME recreational fishers for this mess ........ I'm sure the Greenies will/are.
  21. Yep, I reckon she would. I also reckon @ellicat would be pretty keen ...... there's two months sorted
  22. Oh and a big thanks to Madmic (BTW I don't think I actually clarified with you - is your first name Mick? Am assuming so ....) for the brag mat. At 120cm, I'll now be able to accurately measure all of the monstrous fish I catch ........ cheers
  23. Yep, awesome social today Danielle, well done for all of your hard work organising it and for the yummy food!! Went down a treat. Good to finally meet a few people face to face and catch up with others where it's been far too long. Bring on Xmas holidays and plenty of fish for everyone in 2017!!
  24. You two aren't as silly as you look ....... Good ideas - will go with one of them Brian - do you have some tent pegs you could bring? I took mine to school on Thursday to help stake down the marquees and don't think I got them back. Weather forecast looks OK Danielle - go ahead as planned and people can make their own mind up if rain does eventuate. If it does rain you would basically be guaranteed use of one of the large gazebo's there.
