I read about this on the FB page and wondered if you had anything to do with it or even wrote the blurb in the comments.

Even if I was a scientist, I would not have been able to count the rings. haha

I suggested the title as well

Go local wilson or gary howard.

Local? Wilson = made in China (except for Venoms which are $$$$$$) and Gary howard = apart from the oversize surf rods and a few other lines he rolls here they are made in Vietnam.

im all for supporting Aussie businesses - it keeps people in jobs. It’s just tough when they shout everyone 4000 new rods and a week on the Big Cat and I don’t get invited!

That was going to be my next question.

I have the dremel for the seat cut.

Grip is simply just a blade.

What do you use for the gimbal?

    It's an alloy gimbal.

Depends what they stuck it on with but heat is your friend. Heat gun as you rotate the rod then you should be able to get a flathead screwdriver between the gimbal and the blank and very gently prise it off. Be careful not to use too much heat as this can delaminate the blank

    So do I.

He personally handed me this rod so it's kinda special.

I do know him but haven't seen him for years. He's a movie star now haha.

Thank you so much. My fear was that all the guides had to come off.

So with that good news, I'm going to give it a go.

Is it worth fitting the big alloy seats with the dual nut setup,or just stick with the fuji plastics.

The M10 will likely be a Snyder Glas blank - definitely worth replacing the reel seat.

the Fuji HD reel seats are great. The ally ones can corrode with metal reel feet and clamp nuts.

im brisbane southside if you want a hand with replacing it @Junky

  5. Same here with the US freight situation. I’m in Brisbane so it’s a quick trip to the goldy to United Tackle and Exclusive Tackle down there or occasionally I’ll go to Ballina to Frogleys (Fuji). Have you heard of Aaron McKell up your way? He does Fuji components and a few lines of the US blanks (Rainshadow, NFC, Phoenix) he might be worth contacting. I’ve ordered from him before and his shipping to Brisbane was reasonable and quick.

Yep, good advice Andrew_P, slow tapers are hard work when fighting a decent fish Junky, basically the fish has all the leverage advantage, I do like them when I'm fishing light tackle (1 & 2kg string), because they are more forgiving. For taking on bigger fish on heavier line I prefer Fast Taper Jig sticks (under load, the bottom section stays fairly straight, with most of the bend in the top third and relatively pronounced).
There are quite a few available in the market (my main supplier has quite a number in both FT & MT and weight ranges), and like Andrew said, good idea to pop your reel on a few and try to get the feel of what you like.
I've taken a couple of quick pics, hopefully they show the difference well enough 🙂

Where are you located and where do you get your blanks/supplies from @Sylvathorn?
