Geez I hope not, not that I have to worry at this stage but every other season I had snapps in the freezer.
I'd say they'd have to get you returning to ramp with them in the esky, otherwise like you say, how can it be proven they are caught in the closed season.

Nice lizard Hamish.
I was standing on that jetty a couple of nights ago. Had tea at the Brazilian restaurant just above it. Top feed for those interested.
Caught the river cat around to new farm park.
There's a decent sized jetty there as well, just out the front of the power house. Saw a 72cm jew pulled in, and I stood close to make sure it went back.
Dunno if you've fished that jetty but it may be worth a look.

Ha ha. I jigged for squid yesterday - always use dominant had for winding (right) but left hand/arm got sick and tired of it about 15 minutes in . Maybe I should swap but not sure it would feel "right"...
I swapped years ago when I started casting plastics and lures more.
The reason being, and I learnt from the pros, is that you cast the rod out with your right hand, why swap to left to retrieve?
If the fish are surface feeding, you could possibly get a hookup when that lure hits the water and you're swapping the rod to the left hand.
That little amount of time for swapping over is all it takes for a jack to reach his snag and bust you off,and that was happening to me.
Another situation is casting at oyster ridden rocks.
I can cast, hit water, and be retrieving straight away, keeping the plastic just above the rocks.
If I'm swapping, the plastic sinks, finds a nice oyster shell to lodge itself in and you're now snagged.
Horses for courses but that's the only way I fish now.

Yeah great reels, wanted to give the left hand crank a go because my left arm cramps hard when i jig for a long period of time so im hoping that this will stop it or it will just cramp my right, time will tell
I'm a lefty wind, so I can relate.
It makes sense to hold the rod with your strongest hand/arm, especially weighty critters.
You're only winding with the left, the fight is on the right.
I'm sure that reel will be a great winch for jigging.

Hi @dmck, when speaking to VMR Jacobs Well they said they support VMR Southport members as a courtesy. When speaking to VMR Hervey Bay, they said that they didn't, that I'd have to be a member of their flotilla, or that fees would be charged if I needed assistance on the water.
for more details, see my full comments above.Jacobs well are a top bunch. Extremely helpful folk.
I've been a member of Raby Bay for the last 15 odd years and was going to join JW. JW said no, stay where I am and they would happily recognise my membership with RB.
I log on with JW when I'm out overnight so as to have that 24/7 coverage.
Always friendly and happy to assist if needed, no questions asked.
That's a win for me.
Even Round Hill said no problem with RB membership. The girls up there are great to deal with as well.
Also have club Marine, which gives extra towing coverage if needed (hopefully never, touch wood).

Couldn't help myself today.
Rain sent me home early so I picked the kids up from missus workshop and had to call into Augusta Meats there on old Cleveland road. Where Leisure Marine used to be.
10 rack pack of pork baby back ribs. $68.
Also got another rump and had it cut. Got 10 steaks out of it at about 25mm thick.
Good quality meat, and not to bad on price. Very clean shop.

Easy as.
Sit steak on bench and let rest to room temp.
Get heat beads going in fire pit. My pit is from bunnings. Little round smoker oven, but I don't use the insert spacer or lid, just the bottom and bowl for heat beads.
Cut room temp steaks down the middle length ways to make 2 halves.
Skewer steak on sword thingies. Can buy from BBQ shop.
Lightly cover steak in rock salt and place over open heat bead pit and add wood to smoke.
Cook til medium or clearish blood color juice start to form on steak.
Remove steak and clean off any rock salt that has stuck to surface.
I cut mine into strips and feast.
Yum.

Good day out.
Yeah the cramps are common.
Bananas help cramps heaps. Eat 3 or 4 before you climb aboard. Some skippers get a bit precious if you bring bananas on their boat.
Those cramps are the reason I use high speed reels. Gets old real quick winding up 80m all day long, especially if it's just to rebait.

Ask your kids where do wooly car seat covers come from.
They are good on the floor to snuggle your feet into on a nippy night.
Are you going to do some more Junky, are you doing it the same way, if they turned out good I wouldn't going to the expense of the kits just use what you used before. Cheaper way out.
Yes mate, doing more.
I'm addicted.
Will do the same way. Turned out bloody awesome for a bloke who had no idea what I was doing, so can only get better at it now. Have plenty of ingredients left over as well.
Im also going to try one with the brains, instead of egg. See how that goes.
They were lovely on the feet but the kids have confiscated those 2 skins, so I shall do some more. I'm chuffed they like them actually. Gone from no interest to maybe helping me with the next ones.

Well, the hides turned out bloody awesome, however they didn't last long on the floor.
I tell you what, the kids were so grossed out by what I was doing and couldn't believe people do that to sheep (wait till they hear about the kiwis, their uncle haha). Said they'd never go near them etc.
Well, they saw them on the floor, lay on them and couldn't believe it, so the skins ended up with them under their sheets like underlay on the beds.
Here's a quick pic of one, before they both disappeared.
Round two just rocked up the other day as well.

Dunno how that trip was for you Brian but it seemed to fly by watching those vids.
You got minion voices as well.
Looks like a lovely spot to visit.... in summery months.
Just completed my NSW R licence too. State forest close by.
Hmmmm.

Sounds like a cracker.
24ft. That's decent.
It will be and awesome rig for up in those waters.
Nice.

You can download all the GBRMP maps here.
Pick your area. Very detailed with green zones etc.
The trout are starting to bite again.
