I fish the pine quite a bit more towards the mouth.
Run out tide definitely plastics 1/6 or 1/4 depending on how fast it’s heading out. Z man plastics most colours, bright colours when it’s sunny dull in low light.
hard bodies on high tide around the bridges
daiwa double clutch 95mm are always good
started lure fishing around 7-8 years ago after being a bait fisho and won’t be going back to bait.
persistence is the key and a lot of trial and error working out what is best and when, have a variety of colours and styles of lure
    good luck

I've used it a bit,a lot of people down the river use it too, especially red for getting that reluctant bite.
But 90% of the time if I need to colour a jig head I either heat and dip it in a jig head powder or use spray paint if I'm in a rush.
The jig head paint last the longest, but if you loose them at a respectable rate then paint is fine if not the hardest wearing.
Nail polished however is great if you want to change colours to match or contrast jig heads.
I do the same with lead fish, any of those methods work pretty much the same.

Hi guys anyone used nail polish to paint jig heads? Want to know if the nail polish smell deters the fish or if it becomes inert after it has dried.
    cheers

I've been thru the pained vs unpainted jigheads quite a bit.
Records show that there is no discernible difference over nearly two years of working plastics in the rivers and inshore / bay fishing.
These days I only use plain lead jigs unless they are HWS type, I paint the lead on those bright orange and insert them into the head of prawn plastics. This is now the only time I bother with paint on them.

I used to touch up hard bodies with nail polish for the fresh. No residual odour.

1020 fish aplenty I think they say. I use to worry about these things and tides etc. now I have kids and limited time to fish so long as the wind is okay, which it will be in the morning I go fishing. Even if I don’t catch anything I still enjoy it and always something to learn!

As a former Victorian I do miss eating flake from the fish and chip shop. It’s usually gummy shark down there. Gummy shark are an often targeted species by fisherman down south, hence the name they are a bit easier to target than some of the toothy sharks. I agree bob about the sport fishing side of it, having caught gummies in the past they are an excellent sport fish. I have been told by a guy at work who eats shovel nose and says they are similar in eating to gummy

Yeah, you can get 1/2 leaf springs for lite trailers.
Get gal ones they'll last forever, you'll have to get the hangers welded
on by someone who knows how to line the suspension up properly.
Not a big job. Good luck.

Picked up a trailer for my tinnie. The trailer does not have any sort of suspension. The boat is only a small 3.1m quintrex and is very light. Are leaf springs the best/easiest option for this?

Is the yak a single or double if you’re taking the young bloke out? My son is starting to come fishing with me now so was thinking of getting a tandem so I can take him out

    Hi guys,
thinking of upgrading from a paddle kayak to a pedal.  Any one who has a pedal kayak, just want to know if it is worth the extra cost, as some brands can be quite $$$
Hobie are obviously the benchmark, but there seems to be other brands with a similar pedal that a bit cheaper such as the pedal pro plus
    Any advice would be welcome
    Cheers

Do it!!!  The advantages far outweigh the additional costs.  for a serious fishing yak you can't go past pedals.
I got my hobie outback 2nd hand off gumtree, had to spend a few $ on it to get it working properly but all up i was on the water fishing for about $2K, with only some fairly minor maintenance costs in the past 5 years.
Some advantages over the paddle kayaks:
    - both hands free to fish
    - much easier to fight larger fish when you can have two hands on the rod and still move the kayak around
    - I can easily cover 20km in a day
    - can troll at up to 5kn easily
    - easier to maintain forward momentum in choppy conditions - more stability

    disadvantages:
    - generally heavier
    - cost
    - fins can be a bit limiting in super shallow waters (less than 30cm deep)
    - more moving parts so more potential for breakages

the way i see it, i don't have a "real" boat, so i am saving $ straight up on 2 x regos, insurance etc.  to have a toy i can troll for flatties in 30cm of water or chase snapper and macks offshore on the right day with no real ongoing costs, easily transportable etc, for me it was not hard to justify the extra expense.  especially great now i can take the little one for a trip out as well.

    just my 2c worth. 🙂

I can't comment on the competitor quality, but the Hobies have all the accessories sorted. Not sure about the others.
Pedals are the way to go imo.
I've fished from both and there is no comparison. The pedal is so much easier to fish from. Trolling or holding position is easier and just having your hands free all the time is a winner. Pedaling is easier on the stamina too, so you go that much further.

    Hi
Not sure of your location but might be of interest to you. I was speaking with a chap at npd couple weeks back who builds and installs brackets n motors on yaks, explained to me he has a different than standard remote control system and has rewired some for better speed control and is better for the battery. Think he was on pine lakes on Facebook, don't think he's on this forum. I get around on my kayak, motors arnt for me but each to there own.

I'm surprised that you have not had more replies to your post, so I will chip in with my two cents worth even though it doesn't relate exactly to your query.
Some (many) years ago I had a 4.9 meter Canadian style canoe that I used to fish Hinze Dam when fossil fuel boats were banned. I fitted it with a small 28lb thrust electric motor to extend my travel range and time on the water.
It was great for traveling further and faster than I could paddle, and good for trolling too.  It got me back to the ramp quicker if the weather turned nasty while I was out on the water, and I really appreciated it a couple of times heading back into a stiff head wind.
I always thought of it as one of my better decisions, and that the price of the motor and battery was money well spent.
    Cheers,   deegee12g
