Nothing worse than planning a nice long road trip and everything goes pear shape when you get there, very disappointing. I can sympathise, I have had 3 trips like that, first trip to Roslyn Bay, motor ECU failed. 2nd trip 1770, blowing gale force winds. 3rd trip to Cairns, 4WD blew a coolant hose so didn't get there.
Hopefully this will be the end of our bad luck. The missus and I are heading up as far as Port Douglas with various stops in 3 weeks time so hopefully we won't have any dramas, 4th time lucky perhaps. This time I will be fishing on charter boats!
At least you have sorted out your motor issues, so if nothing else you can fish locally again whilst day dreaming about the big ones you didn't catch. Not quite the same as fishing up north but you should still get a feed.
Now, if you want to talk about a trip that went pear-shaped, read
Brian’s trIp was a very good trip in comparison.

What is the outcome? And what piece of metal is on your boat to do that? I’ll come over with my grinder and give it what’s for.

Thanks for the decky spot.
There were heaps of fresh live venison roaming around too.
I like venison but have never seen it for sale anywhere in Brisbane?

75cm! That’s not a winter whiting. It’s a King George on steroids!

I disagree Greg, bearings should be checked every 6 months or more often when in and out of salt and always before a long trip.
Might be just me but I've seen and had lots of failures a long way from home, might be OK if you only run local but they fail pretty quick.
Mate, I don’t even check my fuel gauge that often!

My bearings went when the dealer was towing it to the front of his yard last visit. And a brake pad fell off as I was driving into his workshop this visit. I agree, get them all checked at a maximum two year interval.

Thanks Doughnuts.
Thanks ubnt. I think the Sedona 6000 is the perfect size reel for Jew and threadfin fishing landbased in the river. It fits plenty of 30 pound braid nicely and casts well too.
Thanks Brodie, hopefully they continue to get better as well.
Cheers Steve, I guess the fish are following the prawns. Hopefully there’s still some prawns left when the trawlers are done.
Surely it’s time to ban trawling in the river.
