Whiting At Runaway Bay

With some warm weather it was time to takes the kids fishing which also included boogie boards and sundry other pieces of beach play equipment. A Sunday with hot weather and sunny skies means massive amounts of boat traffic and chaos at the boat ramps. Fear not I have learnt that if you have the right tide across the shallow banks in the Broadwater that all that boat traffic can create enough wave action to stir up the bottom and excite the whiting during the day.

I targeted Runaway Bay and the bites were consistent with the exception of the top of the tide when the run stopped. We got the 20 fish we wanted in the space of a few hours. No trophy fish with the best just 33cm and most around 27cm, but only a couple of undersized whiting and tarwhine.
