another tragedy in moreton bay

If you haven't heard, a boat carrying 11 people capsized near Green Island yesterday arvo, I think during the storm. Seems that 8 people were rescued, two were found dead (RIP) and the search for the remaining person was called off at midnight last night, with the search resuming this morning at first light. Terrible storm yesterday, enough to turn over what sounds like was a 39ft cruiser. Thoughts are with the families of those involved and please say a prayer that the remaining missing person is found. Very sad .

Not good news but at least it is closure for the families involved.

Very valuable lesson for us all.  Summer storms can come through with winds well over 100kph quite easily.  Keeping a weather eye out and hastening a retreat to shore quickly or at least getting in and hiding somewhere safe is a priority.  I think running yourself aground on an island is preferable to the alternative.

Absolute Tragedy - And makes me really think about how i would handle things if i was in that situation in an 18ft compared 39ft cruiser?
