@ellicat preserved worms are better than nothing for whiting. The link to preserving them looks okay but I personally wouldn't add the tuna oil unless you wanted to use them for bream.

I generally prefer the outgoing tide in the lower reaches but I have caught fish on all tides.

Hit up the Nerang with @Old Scaley for a night session. We watched the footy on the tablet while we put together a good feed of whiting. Most were around the 30cm mark, so well worth filleting. We split them 11 each.
Early on Steve lead 7/nil and I was questioning my luck but things evened out as the night went on. He was going old school and using some old Alvey setups with mono which were doing the trick nicely.
Good session mate. Looking forward to a few repeat trips over the coming months.

We had another good trip landbased to the Nerang River. Yabbies and Cribb Island worms produced a good mixed bag of grunter bream, whiting to 38 cm, tarwhine and bream. All of the parks in the Nerang River and the Broadwater foreshore produce fish if you put in the effort and keep things simple.

Hi Kat. Ellicat is on the money. Just have a look at Google Earth/Google Maps and any of the small parks can produce fish. The second one in the video is Southern Cross Reserves on Cronin Island which is one of the more consistent spots. I have even caught a juvenile cobia there. In the Broadwater - Shearwater Park and Anglers Esplanade along Runaway Bay and anywhere along Marine Pde produce fish. There are also plenty of fish still at Shorncliffe Pier on the northside of Brisbane - this was from last week and we did well there this Monday as well.

    Hey Darly
Great one. Those are some lovely estuary fish. I will have to get down there one day to try my luck 🙂

    Tasty fishing !
Hoping to get some of the same tomorrow night when we hit the Nerang.
Did I hear right that the whiting are better in the lower reaches on the outgoing ?

    Hi Darryl
Being new to fishing and pretty new to the gold coast I don't really know what you mean by any parks on the Nerang river.  I am desperate to find some new spots - can you give me the name of a few parks so I can look them up?
    Cheers Kat
