queensland Whiting Are Improving

This is the time of the year that the sand and yellowfin whiting really start to kick into gear. There have been plenty of sand whiting in the Southport Broadwater for the landbased angler of late. There have been quite a few bream mixed in with them as well. These ones were from a couple of hours last night using surf worms for bait with the best fish of 36 cm. You don't need a boat to consistently get a feed of fish.

Great session, good job. Those are some lovely fish, I will have to journey down that way with my dad in the holidays to target some  

What gear do you use for them? I'd assume the tinniest sinker possible, 6lb line (maybe a little heavier), and the freshest/liviest worms/yabbies possible.

Yes Hamish. You are pretty much on the money. Worms or yabbies, 6lb monofilament line, a sinker light enough to reach the fish and light slow taper rods.

Nice work @Daryl McPhee and co.

@tugger and I went searching for elbow slappers in the Logan today. Thought we had an upgrade for the whiting leaderboard until I read this. Good to see they are around because I love crumbed whiting.
