Luvit got a reaction from Drop Bear in Fibreglass Repairs
Last time I retrieved the boat I took off 6 inches of gel coat. It would not have caused a problem but i wanted it resealed.
I took it to a business called Todd's Fibreglass that is locate at Thorneside a 1hr drive from me. The reason I I wanted Todd to do the work was on the back of a previous chat I had with him regarding some minor repairs.
I was very impressed with his knowledge and his honesty. Having someone work on my boat makes me nervous because trying to match a factory color is not easy at all.
Todd did a fantastic job and charged me $150 less than was quoted once he saw the boat in the flesh rather than quoting from the photos. As I said very honest.
If I ever require more glass work this is the guy I will be taking it to. Highly recommend him.

Luvit reacted to rayke1938 in Draft Moreton Bay Marine Park Plan U Are Screwed
Found this on another forum
Draft Moreton Bay Marine Park Zoning Plan
Legislation to Restrict Boating in moreton Bay 120 Days per year per person
Section 107 of the Draft Moreton Bay Marine Park Zoning Plan is set to prohibit boating in the Marine Park zone to no more than 120 days per year per person.
This legislation does not apply to those navigating and mooring with permission or operating a passenger ferry, but the impact could be felt by recreational boat users, residents of the Bay Islands, live-aboard operations, and commercial operators who could be fined or forced to navigate more red tape.
Whilst there is support for protecting the bay environment, questions remain about the practicality of enforcing this legislation, who it will be applied to, and whether this will mean more red tape for commercial operators and others enjoying the Bay.
Read the full report at this link: you'll need to copy and paste sorry

Have your say here:

230 odd pages
Section Stew is taking about is on page 75.
Sounds like the old trick of including something controversial that everyone will complain about and slip in the things that they really wish to do unnoticed.
Needs a section stating what they propose to change,
No maps just lat and longitude lines.
Impossible for a dumbo like me to work out what they are saying.
Good reason to stick to the fresh water.
Cheers

Welcome,
I don't know much about peel however plenty of other members do. If you use the search function 'peel' there is loads of information from the years past.

You need to keep an eye on the green zones around the island and if you are travelling around the northern side, watch your depth. The reef extends out a fair way and some of the homies are not far under the water on the lower tides.
The artificial reef balls on the western side are not very big so can take a bit of looking. Avoid the areas of high boat traffic for best results. Good luck.

Hey Chipper,
I know they were getting good numbers of school mackerel on the northern side a few weeks ago.
There are always plenty of bream around the old wreck on the south eastern side, getting them to bite is a bit of a challenge.
Do you have a GPS? The artificial reefs on the Western Side produce well especially at night.
Snapper with strips of fresh mullet are a popular bait but if you can get live baits they are better.
It is a great island and one worth spending a lot of time on getting to know it. These clear wind free days are great for exploring 🙂

Luvit reacted to Little Grey Men in Crystal Clear Flathead
I haven't tossed a lure for a few weeks and after checking the weather and tides it was down to the salty brine to play for a bit. The water was crystal clear and long casts and slow presentations were used to fool the fish. I pulled the two best flathead from the same spot in the snag. If you hook a flattie put the lure straight back there because they like to hang out in little groups.
A few small flatties also fell to plastics and one OK sized bream
All fish were taken on soft plastics ever so slowly hopped along the sand.

Heading to Warrabah NP next week to get away from it all. Taking the rods, Dan and his girl.
Hoping to get onto a cod or yella.
With so many people haunting my usual spots these days we've looked further afield. Hoping to find a quiet spot in the winter weather. They had snow at Guyra the other week, so here's hoping.
Will have a report after we return. Hopefully a good one.
Has anyone been there before ?

Luvit reacted to rayke1938 in First Boat - Which One ?
Is the trailer braked? Outfit probably over 750kg. With a lot of earlier outfits to keep the price competitive the dearlers would weigh the outfit dry to keep the weight under 750kg and only supply a unbraked trailer,
Scalies quite often hit up the boat ramps of a weekend and give you a ticket and pull off the plates and you have to tilt tray your boat home , mechanical discs are not that expensive with electric a bit more but worth the extra as they are easier to adjust and if you put a relay in the reverse light circuit it disconnects the brakes when you are reversing, ( Stops the brakes locking up when you are reversing the empty trailer down the ramp)
cheers

Luvit got a reaction from fishingnut in Gobblers Lures Sold
After some negotiation with the owner of Gobblers Lures, my wife and I have purchased the small business.
We will be taking it over in early July and manufacturing from home. (Just in time for me to make a few lures for the Kimberly trip coming up in end of July). 🙂
It will take a few months to find our feet and then hopefully we can start making some small changes to improve the Gobbler experience.
Predominantly my Julie will be manufacturing the lures while I be doing marketing, development etc.
I'm sure there will a special for AFO members when we are sorted.😉
This is why I have been quite on the forum for a little while.

Luvit reacted to Shoji in Stacer 4mt Runabout Boat Seat Covers
Thanks Drop Bear. It arrived today. It's one of those jaunt tanks. Comes with bracket to fasten to the deck, which I will do. I won't be testing it this weekend. Too busy carting the missus and her girl friend to the wineries on Saturday up the Swan region here in WA. But the weekend weather is not great with rain anyway.
