  1. Nice work @Another Wazza. Was that West Peel arti? Hey mate, without giving too much away , I got them not too far from West Peel, as for the artificial there, I have been told by a reputable friend that it can fish very well, however, certain sections of it fish better then others, and there is a lot of homework to do, I too was like Drop Bear and didn’t have much hope for it, the structure is a far cry from the pipes and other goodies out at Harry’s, but I don’t see them adding to it anytime soon, you live in hope, and die in despair. As for the houseboat wreck, I haven’t pulled anything great off it, I’ve had much better success about 500 metres away, in saying that though, the fish aren’t always there either
  2. Hey there shaun1800, I’ve done quite a bit of fishing on those flats, I cut through a small park just down the road from the shop, it has a tap there to wash the mud off yourself too, there’s 2 entrance/exit points in between the mangroves that head out to the bend where the green channel marker is. I took a mate there not too long ago for a flick, he’s around 100kg and was struggling to stay on top of the mud, he reckoned I was like one of those birds that walk on water lilly’s barely sinking down at all, an advantage of being 30kg lighter perhaps?. Anyway, I was blown away with how much weed there was out there towards the mouth, it made it difficult with plastics and could only manage an undersized flathead, the bend was the only place that wasn’t clogged full of weed. Back in the day I’d load up like a Himalayan sherpa and make the pilgrimage across the flats with my bucket, yabbie pump, pvc rod holder, and little tackle box, to get to the yabby tundra, they’re plentiful out there, these days I’m a bit lazier and just go with a lightly loaded backpack and throw the plastics around, there’s still good lizards to be had out there, hopefully your next expedition go’s a little bit better for you.
  3. Bugger, I cant remember for sure, but isn’t the pin hollow?, on the bright side though, the weather looks ordinary, so your not going to miss out on anything
  4. What caused the pin to fail?, did you prang into something underwater?
  5. The stargazer is a funny looking fish, I caught one in Tingalpa creek many years ago, I don’t have a pic of one but they’re quite box shaped up front and taper down near the tail, pretty dodgy explanation?
  6. Congratulations Kat!, like all great fishos it seems you’ve mastered the art of making the fish in the photo look bigger then it actually is , it can take some people years to perfect this illusion, It’s a shame he wasn’t bigger though, they’re pretty tasty
  7. Old Scaley, you have just described what nightmares are made of
  8. Not taking a rod or 2, would be sacrilege!
  9. That’s a whole heap of area to look over, does your sounder have side scan?
  10. Oh GregOug, you’ll never catch a snapper with that attitude, half the battle is having faith in your ability, the other half is luck.... alright, having just read the North West saga, it’s fair to say that you and luck might not go hand in hand, but that doesn’t mean you should be ruling out your own ability either, keep at it and you will be rewarded.
  11. I second that for 10lb, you’d be spewin if a cracker got away from you
  12. Hi there, I could be wrong, but I think there’s a 6 knot speed limit on that dam?, I’ve never taken a boat on it though so like I said, I could be wrong. Have you considered going to Somerset by any chance, I know it’s a free for all up there and there’s plenty of places to cruise around feathering the throttle
  13. Hey man, you can’t go wrong with J braid, I’ve got 4 reels spooled with both x4 & x8, one thing I have found is the x4 loses the colour a bit quicker then the x8, it still works though
  14. Wow man!, that does not sound cool at all, where about’s did you get bucked off?
  15. Good work, it would have been beautiful down there today
  16. There’s only one predator out there that this fella fears and that’s the mighty GregOug!, hahaha, sorry mate, I just couldn’t help myself
  17. Spewing GregOug, that was going to be my plan!, I have a nice seafood shop nearby, and a wallet I’m not afraid to use
  18. I should be able to sneak out for a fish over the next month, so could you please put me down for team south, cheers
  19. Nice, It’s in a bit better condition then mine too the top of this lures had a seeing to
  20. Hi there ellicat, what colour dart lure do you have?, I had a bloke try to buy mine whilst at that dam, he spotted it in my tackle box and started salivating, I told him not for sale, I’ll be using it, he must have thought I was mad, It did however catch me a 70cm model, the ones that command crazy prices are usually in mint condition,
  21. I’d be checking your drag washers after a monster like that, the battle would have been epic
  22. Nice work, It’s been almost 15 years since I was down there last, 9 degrees at 11 is a bit ordinary though
  23. If your trailer uncoupled off the hitch and hit the deck, just move the D shackle up a few links, or if your handy with a welder and some cold gal, weld another chain on the other side so they cross over on the tow bar creating a cradle, should it ever happen again, providing your tow bar has 2 attach points. Other then the trailer incident it still sounded like an excellent day on the bay, the kingies would have been a blast!
  24. Hi there ellicat, out of curiosity do you have one or two chains on your trailer?
