  1. And I don’t think even the biggest of those will win at 3.400mm.
  2. He should just tell them about the great prizes on offer! They can’t refuse then.
  3. Hi @_Sloth_. How did your minnkota end up working. Was it worth the expense?
  4. I think it might be an idea next year to include a couple of more inclusive categories such as a general one for reef fish (other than the specific ones such as snapper). I’ve made it out twice since the competition began and have caught grassies (legal), Venus Tusk fish (one just barely legal and one a bit better) and 2 Red Emperor (nowhere near legal) but none qualify. Just an idea, so that a few of us poor unfortunates who don’t have secret spots or techniques can feel like we are participating.
  5. Hi @Ed., they are just so much smoother. The ratchet mechanism works well. And they look better too!
  6. Hi Robbie, My two cents worth, which is probably worth more like no cents (or nonsense), but anyway, here goes. I have a Tyrnos 16 single speed and a couple of Tyrnos 20 two speeds. I think the 20s would suit what you are looking to do. Some lures that I have which are suitable for trolling at 12 knots, and you may like to consider, are: 1. Halco GT Stickbait 180mm 178g - colours Bonito or Red Tiger; 2. Strike Pro Dorado; 3. Polu Kai Tail Pipe - I like the Morning Mist one; 4. Zerek Speed Donkeys - I have a few of these. They come in some great colours. I like the Slimy Mackerel or Chocolate Rose; and 5. Live Target Spanish Mackerel - 12 knots might be a bit high, better suited up to 10 knots. cheers Greg p.s The photos and links below in order are 1, 3, 2, 4 and 5. https://www.marine-deals.com.au/halco-gt-stickbait-180mm-178g?q=halco red &h=10 C8A8E4B8-E08D-46E0-915A-5C5FCF3C3AB8.webp
  7. Thanks Angry. Good to see someone checking Hamish’s work when I’m a bit lax in logging on. And you’re right. I noticed his obvious mistake straight away. Everyone knows Ugly Sticks can be used for lures as well as bait foshing.
  8. After careful consideration of your performance as friends on AFO in 2021 I have decided to extend your friendship for a further 12 months. Try not to stuff it up! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
  9. Somewhere in the mid southern bay. North of Harry Atkinson. That’s about as much as I know.
  10. Well, not much evening up is going to occur. Could hardly raise a bite today.
  11. The really amazing thing is that I was the one who nominated the start time!
  12. Merry Christmas to all. And a Happy New Year. Hopefully it will be better than the last couple, but somehow I doubt it.
  13. Exciting times when you finally get your new boat on the water! Enjoy. Nice flatties too.
  14. That brings to mind a classic statement of Basil Fawlty (John Cleese) in Fawlty Towers. “And now for our next contestant, Mrs. Sibyl Fawlty from Torquay. And her special subject? The bleeding obvious”. Lol. As an aside, I heard that wind turbines were invented by the Irish, but they weren’t actually generating any power. They didn’t really take off until another country spotted a design flaw and amended the specifications. p.s I made that last one up.
  15. Yes. That must be right. I can’t imagine they could all be the size in the photo.
  16. Not really anything to do with fishing but I found this photo amazing! I knew wind turbines were big but the below photo gives some idea of just how big. That’s one side of a blade! Greg
