I think it might be an idea next year to include a couple of more inclusive categories such as a general one for reef fish (other than the specific ones such as snapper). I’ve made it out twice since the competition began and have caught grassies (legal), Venus Tusk fish (one just barely legal and one a bit better) and 2 Red Emperor (nowhere near legal) but none qualify. Just an idea, so that a few of us poor unfortunates who don’t have secret spots or techniques can feel like we are participating.

Hi Robbie, My two cents worth, which is probably worth more like no cents (or nonsense), but anyway, here goes. I have a Tyrnos 16 single speed and a couple of Tyrnos 20 two speeds. I think the 20s would suit what you are looking to do. Some lures that I have which are suitable for trolling at 12 knots, and you may like to consider, are: 1. Halco GT Stickbait 180mm 178g - colours Bonito or Red Tiger; 2. Strike Pro Dorado; 3. Polu Kai Tail Pipe - I like the Morning Mist one; 4. Zerek Speed Donkeys - I have a few of these. They come in some great colours. I like the Slimy Mackerel or Chocolate Rose; and 5. Not really anything to do with fishing but I found this photo amazing! I knew wind turbines were big but the below photo gives some idea of just how big. That’s one side of a blade! Greg
