queensland Mackerel - More Practice Needed ......
GregOug replied to kmcrosby78's topic in Saltwater
Now now Hamish. It is far too early in the comp to be pricing fish yet. I’ll wait until the last day or two. No good wasting money yet when an unscrupulous Southsider could buy a bigger one. -

Ah. You may have hit the nail on the head there KM. It is very hard to hold a fishing rod, wind the weed in, and also hold a stubby so I eventually saw the light and gave up. -
It was a friends and family trip @ellicat. Six of us in total.

Thanks mate but your confidence was misplaced

And .......................... I’m back! And thank you very much for calling me immature Hamish! Normally I’m just called a silly old bastard! And, unless I’m very much mistaken, your comments above comprise a ‘sledge’ in themselves. So, you Southside Landlubbers have had it good for a few days but now there is nowhere to hide. I will seek you out and sledge to my heart’s content. Now, I have not read any of the gibberish that has been posted by those south of the mighty Brisbane River as yet but I am in no doubt there will be plenty for me to wade through. Give me a day or so to digest the drivel and I will respond in due course. I haven’t looked at the leaderboard as yet but I imagine by now it will be filled with Northsiders’ names (note when the adjective is plural possessive Hamish, you place the apostrophe after the ‘s’ - just a quick English lesson there for you. I imagine the adult, and I use the term loosely, Southsiders have enticed you to miss your schoolwork in a vain attempt to catch up to the esteemed Northside team in my absence). Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah, I didn’t catch a fish on my Fraser trip. Mainly because I had complete confidence in my Northside team mates to thrash the rest of you in my absence, and didn’t wet a line much. I also found that when I did throw a line in I couldn’t actually wind it back in due to the half ton of snot weed which had attached itself to my line, bait and anything else silly enough to find itself in the water! Anyway, signing off for now but, never fear, I’ll be back soon enough to respond to your sledges, you Southside Landlubbers. cheers Greg -
Yeah. If it’s not what you really want, don’t buy it. You’ll be sorry later on.

Is the last one an Amberjack? Not sure.
-
And only catch the absolute biggest of each species Ed. Then post them on the comp page for Northside. cheers Greg

Hi Swampie, Welcome. If you have any questions just ask. I won’t be able to answer them, but everyone else will. cheers Greg

6 knots! I don’t think my boat will do 6 knots!
-
Thanks ED, but I’ve already caught a metre tailor and a two metre Jew. And I haven’t even got to the island yet. Didn’t you see the photos?
-
Thanks Brian. Taking my two boys, one of their mates and two of my mates. Looking forward to it.

Thanks mate. I’m confident you can put your name against one of the species. And if it’s getting towards the end of the comp and we still have nothing I still owe you and Kat a trip. If we go out and fish away from my marks we should get something!

I’m off to Fraser tomorrow. Oh, I’m off to Fraser tomorrow. Here we go. Here we go. Here we go. Yeh ha!
-
I think you’re lucky that happened
-
And I owned a Yalta Craft a few boats ago and it was a great boat.

Go Team North!

Welcome Neil. @ellicatis right. I am interested and am actually heading up this Sunday for four nights. Where were you mainly getting the tailor? Some nice fish caught by the looks of it. Well done.
-
I second that.

IDHAAOUTA - I don’t have any abbreviations of use to anyone

Mate, don’t buy a punt and expect to go out in any sort of sea or wind. Wait for something better.
