Met the all mighty out at mud Monday morning. The cat was on fire in the morning bagging a big snap and grassy and after a quick repositioning I soon landed a nice 49er

It was great to be out there after a long period of inconvenient weather days. Company was good as always, Steve. Thanks for the day. You've summed it up nicely so I don't have much to add. Well, other than the fact you hogged that side of the boat when my side wasn't firing. Mental notes have been taken. haha
I'll tag on here that I relaunched at 4.30 yesterday afternoon and fished around the Port with @Leosonfire for zero in the esky, a squid that had its head ripped off by something that didn't come back for the main course. :(   In the end we ended up wrestling a good sized catshark and two big rays to the boat before the midnight curfew and a 22 hour day called time.
That was a good fight you had with the morwong and very well angled !

Decided to do a solo mission to Mud today so I could play some tunes and sing loudly without offending anyone. Haha
Kicked off about 8 from Port ramp where I met up with @Old Scaley and @AUS-BNE-FISHO who will no doubt do a report of their own in due course. The conditions were great in the river where I was able to motor along at a respectable 28.x knots.
Got to spot X and soaked a line while I made a coffee. Bream to start then a tuskie, both 25cm and sent back for another go at life. A few pickers around stealing my prawns and squid. Annoying as usual, but not a bad way to pass time waiting for a 'real' fish.
Sent my mackerel floater out with a pillie on the off chance a hungry one would happen by. Stopped feeding the pickers for awhile while I had a well earned rest and sang a few songs. The mackerel line had a hit but didn't hook up. Bum. Re-baited and sent it back out. Then a sshhh noise got my attention. A big school of bait was getting harassed by something. Quickly deployed a half pillie where they were for no luck. They kept busting up all around me not even 20 metres away from the boat. I kept throwing my pillie amongst them for no joy - just some pickers.
The tide turned and there were still showers of baitfish every now and then. I got a few snags and decided to go unwaited as there was no current. At 11am someone turned the fish switch to on.
Immediately the bites were decent and my need to boat a keeper snapper seemed likely. I got a good hit on a head end and hooked up. The fight was decent but not fantastic and I thought I might have a legal one at last, but this 45cmish cod showed up and was released to the esky.

I kept throwing upcurrent and letting the slow current bring my baits down to the spot where the bites were. Then I hooked up to something good that I determined to be a snapper of longish proportions. It went on a big run, then I got him close but he took off again towards the pointy end of Ellicatch. Yep, you probably guessed correctly that he did me on the anchor rope. Disappointed I redeployed and got pickered again by bream this time.
Then once again on a pillie head end I got a great hit and hooked up to a real speedster. This thing was tougher than my 15lb gear with drag tight enough I couldn't pull line off without cutting myself (which I did). It went on a blistering run and just wouldn't stop. Seeing my backing on the 2500 Revros I had to tighten the drag further. Ping. Lost him. Again. I took advantage of being solo and opened up with a few expletives to the world. Bugger.
The mackerel line, which was now out the other side, got a hit but it snipped me. Bugger again.
The bite was hot, but I wasn't it seemed, as I went through all my bait without another legal. Prawns, Squid and pillies all gone.
Except 1. The pillie on the mack line. I pulled it in, cut it in half and sent the head out first. I wasn't good enough to turn the bite into a keeper, so deployed the last bit of bait - the pillie tail. Well the fishing gods were feeling sorry for me and delivered a nice grassie to finish the day.

Cleaned up, packed up, pulled the anchor all by myself (after a rest and answering a few messages) and set off for home at 27 knots. (Must have been the extra net weight of the fish added against the bait lost).
Top day for me. Quite a rush from the two suspected snapper. Now I just need to find another day with an incoming tide to head to Spot X again with heavier gear.

That's a nice snapper. Lucky for him you were on the other end of the line.
It was a nice day on the Bay despite the wind that popped up for about an hour in the morning. The sea toads moved in in large numbers that made floating for macks impossible. Even bottom bashing saw us lose quite a few rigs.
We decided we shouldn't have left Green so we went back there. We were chasing Grassies and they were in good numbers but all under. @Leosonfire hooked up to something with a bit of power that jumped out of the water and shook free. Too quick for an ID though.
Thanks for dropping in on us and taunting us with a preview of your snap.

PS   Got a catshark for entry to the shark comp, but forgot to measure it with a circle.

Having only been out fishing 4 times in the last 3 or 4 months, with mixed results, I was a bit excited to be heading out there this morning, after checking the tides I had every intention of getting out there around 4am, but found myself at the ramp at 4:15, oh well.
I decided to cruise up to Harry’s and have a little poke around, upon arrival there was probably 6 or 7 boats already there, which wasn’t too bad really, I managed to get on to some of those concrete pipes and started fishing the edges.
First cast of the morning was with a pearl z man streaks on a 1/2 oz jig head, it didn’t even look like getting to the bottom, I had missed the turn of the tide and was dealing with considerable current, so decided to rig up a 1oz jig head with a pink grub on it, turns out it worked a treat, I had a little cod climb all over it, he was just a whisker under legal, if he had grown a goatee he would have wound up in the esky.

feeling pretty good about that capture I kept plugging away, and not long after, my pink grub got hammered!, a proper battle ensued, I was using 12lb fluro leader on 20lb braid, and didn’t want to go too hard on it, I’d get a little line back then he’d take a little bit off me, I think he had about 4 good runs  in him before he surfaced behind the boat.

I was pretty stoked once he was in the net, he came in at 74cms, so I got a couple of pics and decided to let him off with just a warning that maybe next time he won’t be so lucky.
After that quite a few more boats had arrived and the bite had all but shut down, I could only manage 1 small squire on a squid offering.
I decided to head to the Rous and try for a mackerel, and also catch up with Brian as he’d told me the night before that him and Leo were heading there.
I didn’t go that well at the Rous, got snipped on my floating pilly, caught a grinner not long after, and kept getting my plastics cut in half by pike, so I motored up to say g’day to Brian and Leo, and I think I waved to Steve? who was fishing with Drop bear, then headed down to West Peel before going home.
West Peel wasn’t really firing, a dishonourable mention goes to the wobbygong who ate the grinner fillet, the sea toad who destroyed my paddle tail and the turtle who ate my pilchard, fear not Gregoug, the 35/40cm sea toad wasn’t up to your standard, your still the king, hahaha.
I did score a little tuskie on plastic, and a 25cm grassie too

the grassie played up like a second hand lawnmower on top of the esky and wanted nothing to do with the camera.
so all in all it was a pretty good day on the bay.

The Rous wasn't giving up much today. We were getting pickered and landing some unders squire, no macks under the floats either. @Katlanded a large pike which we deployed on the mack line. It got attacked by a mack but no hookup. In the meantime I landed a PB schoolie at 74cm on my new combo. Happy with that. Kat landed a squid which was also deployed on her mack setup, replacing the half mangled  pike.
The wind started to freshen so checked and it had jumped up to 14 knots. @GregOugwas at Green so got a weather update for there and he said it had just started to pick up.  We decided to head for Green, but when we got there the wind was 16 and the waves were uncomfortable with plenty of whitecaps so we just headed in early.
Kat has a pic of the mack, but this is all I took.

I hope you enjoyed your day at work, Wazza. 😛

Headed out with @Leosonfire this morning for a shot at the Rous with some bottom bashing and floating for Macks.
Weather was way better than forecast when we left.
Managed a few unders squire and tuskies before landing this keeper at 34cm. Dinner sorted.

Leo hooked up to something with strong short but powerful runs. Could have been a decent tuskie we were thinking. Anyway the sucker spat the hook (or it pulled) and that was all she wrote until I landed a 45cm schoolie on the bottom just after we'd
    re-positioned ourselves.
The mackerel line got 2 hits but no hookups. There were mackerel busting up all around us, but Leo couldn't get one to take his slug.
About 10.30 we decided top give it away at the Rous and head for Green Island.
Not 5 minutes into the journey the wind sprung up and was getting stronger. The Bay did what it does and accordingly went from calm to atrocious with white caps everywhere and waves 1 - 1.5 metres. Checked Willy and it was blowing 20knots. The ride home was a bit on the slow and bumpy side and at times a little wet. Also there were a few nut cracker moments, one requiring a temporary stoppage until the stomach had returned to normal. Leo found this particularly amusing.
I made the call to skip Green and head back to the ramp. You can't always trust the forecast.
