  3. @mangajack Thank you very much for clearing my confusion. I really appreciate it
  4. Education is what you provide for them to learn from. Seems like you are providing. Respect. Well done
  5. OMG wish you were my dad! Fantastic fish
  6. They are doing well. Learning lots and putting their learnings into practice.
  7. Our education system needs to teach kids to tie FG knots and only convene for classes in bad weather/tides.
  8. Great land based fishing. How do you get them to go to school ? haha
  9. Following on from Max's landbased Spaniard last month, the kids had another crack at landbased pelagics at Amity Point and they were not disappointed. The highlight was a metre plus longtail tuna that Max caught on live bait. He lost a much bigger one. Max and Eva also got a few mac tuna on various chrome slugs and plenty of Watson's leaping bonito.
  10. Lol. I don't think you are a one trick pony. You are pretty good at finding the right time to be in a certain place whilst not retired. @Neil Stratford does have a bow of many strings. Comment was made with great respect to you both .

  12. Why would you limit your searching to inflatables? Most small inflatables do not have positive bouyancy if the tube is ruptured. The tubes degrade with age whether they are used or not....quite expensive to replace. Lots of sharp things about when fishing too. If you want a small boat for a first boat I suggest looking for a Polycraft Tuff Tender boat....indestructable and a really good small fishing boat. They are available 2nd hand for about 4k boat motor and trailer....
  13. The reason why Manly harbour is relatively highly toxic is it has no real tidal flow and a long history of works on boats there especially anti fouling removal and repainting. It accumulates and is not dispersed with tidal movements. So in saying that most rivers and water frontages are safe to eat fish from because they either have decent tidal flow or they have minimal industrial contamination. Dont eat fish caught in Manly harbour, Scarborough harbour or around any of the boat yards where they redo anti fouling especially. Scarborough also had quite a high level of cholera bacteria in it back in the 80's and 90's....have not seen mention of it since though....i would not be surprised if it still does being stagnant water. Redcliffe to Manly Harbour and all the rivers and creeks between are safe....just avoid the boat yards areas especially.
  14. Hi, I created a post regarding is it safe to eat fish around the Manly QLD area and the response seems no, not particularly. Are you able to recommend area's closer to Brisbane where the water quality is really good and safe to eat? I know the Gold Coast beaches would be but that's a bit more of a trip. What areas do you think has good quality water? Cheers
  15. If it has a 6hp motor it requires registration. You would need to drop to 4hp to avoid registration.
  16. I'm looking at buying a 2nd hand 3.3m inflatable with around a 6hp motor for fishing in estuaries as my first boat. When I'm looking at them none of them appear to have registration numbers displayed anywhere. Reading Qld registration rules it seems if more than 3kw it needs to be registered with rego number displayed unless it's a tender. Most of the ones I'm looking at don't appear to be tenders. Any ideas if it's just because people don't bother complying or some other reason? Thanks.
  17. @Rebel I do remember the peas, still astounded by that!
  18. Last week
  19. Hahaaaaaa @Bretto77 @Neil Stratford Neil's got all bases covered, i'm just a one trick pony
  20. With respect, yourself and Neil Stratford are amazingly annoying It's great that you are both on the right side of the river however
  21. Thanks Steve, looking forward to you and Brian finding some at last years hunting grounds...
  22. The 60 metered out to exactly the same figures as the 40 which is encouraging. The gearbox oil was green, not white, and it started and ran better than the 40 does. The steering's really light and free too, unlike the 40 which I've struggled to free to to a usable point. The vendor even gave me his home made engine stand which'll make it easier to sell the 40. Took boat and engine in today, should be ready tomorrow AM but I'm baby sitting a sick toddler tomorrow so first chance to put it in the river and give it a blast will be thuraday... will let you know. It's propped to suit a 5.1m fibreglass boat and is going on a 4.3m ally boat so chances are will have to change prop to get the best out of it.
  23. Grunter seem to school up at certain times of the year in different places. I used to take an annual break at Burrum Heads in January and the run was either on the week before or the week after but occasionally I would be there at the right time and there would be heaps of boats lining up to catch good numbers of 50cm+ fish. Great eating.
  24. You sure know how to find those bigger models, Darren. Nice work!
